Uber is committed to helping improve safety, and is developing innovative products that increase transparency and accountability for both riders and driver-partners on the app.

Today, Uber is proud to announce the launch of its “Driver Safety Toolkit” – a comprehensive set of in-app safety features for driver partners – in Bangladesh. With the objective to make every ride a safer experience, the driver Safety Toolkit features benefits of ridesharing such as tracking every trip with GPS while driving with Uber, as well as an emergency button.

Commenting on the launch, Zulquar Quazi Islam, Lead, Uber Bangladesh, said, “Driver partners form the core of Uber’s business. The roll-out of an emergency button and the ‘share trip feature’ under the Driver Safety toolkit strongly reiterates our commitment to their safety. Over the past 2 years, Uber has focused its efforts in developing innovative solutions that increase transparency, accountability, and safety of all the Uber users. The rollout of this toolkit is the next step in ensuring we’re helping all the driver partners stay connected and safe.”

The latest Driver Safety Toolkit includes-

  • Share Trip. Driver partners can now share their trip details with their loved ones straight from the app, letting their family and friends follow them along as they drive.
    • We’ll also launch new safety controls that allow delivery partners to more easily Share Trip and customize their trip sharing preferences
  • Emergency button. The Emergency assistance button offers driver partners an option to connect with law enforcement during an unwanted emergency situation.
  • Speed Limit. This feature alerts driver partners when they exceed the speed so that they can drive at safe speeds for their personal safety, the comfort of their riders, as well as others on the road.

These features will be a part of a larger Safety Toolkit in the app, giving driver partners access to all possible safety measures under the shield icon.
