How cash deliveries work

Accept request

After you accept a delivery request, a green cash icon will appear in the bottom-right corner of the navigation screen to let you know that you’ll be collecting cash from the delivery recipient.

Collect cash

At dropoff, a green “Collect payment” button with the amount due will appear at the bottom of the screen. When you collect cash from the delivery recipient, you may be asked to provide change.

Track earnings

Keep the cash and we’ll deduct the money owed back to the restaurant and Uber from your digital earnings, an authorized bank account, or a debit or credit card.

Reminder: carry change

To help deliveries run smoothly, we recommend always having change on hand to provide to the delivery recipient.

Cash delivery

  • How will I know if I’ll be collecting cash from the Delivery Recipient?

You’ll see a cash icon in the navigation screen after you accept a delivery request as well as a button stating the amount due when you arrive at the drop off location.

  • What should I do if the Delivery Recipient doesn’t have enough cash to pay for the order?

You’ll have an opportunity to tap the “Customer payment problem?” button during the drop off. Follow the instructions and hand the food over to the delivery recipient, regardless of payment. Yes, you still give them the food. Uber will handle the rest.

  • I delivered an order and it said to collect $0 in rupees. Can that be right?

If the customer uses a promotion, sometimes the amount on the screen may seem low or may even be $0; don’t be alarmed. Trust the screen and collect the displayed amount from the delivery recipient.

  • What if I don’t have exact change for the delivery recipient?

We recommend that delivery partners always be prepared to offer exact change to delivery recipient. If you don’t have the correct change, it is recommended that you leave the food with the delivery recipient before leaving to break change.

  • Do I get to keep all of the cash I collect?

No, a portion will be owed to Uber and to the restaurant.

  • How do I know if I need to return money to Uber?

You can keep track of the money you owe back to Uber in the Transaction Activity screen in the Uber Partner app.

  • Is there a maximum amount of cash that I’ll be asked to collect?

Yes, to minimize the amount of cash you’re carrying at any given time, delivery recipients will only be allowed to pay in cash on orders below a certain amount.

  • What if I don’t want to accept cash deliveries?

Once you opt in to cash deliveries, you can contact support to opt out of cash deliveries at anytime.
