About the Role
The role will report to the sub-region Reporting Lead and work closely with other members of the reporting and tax team and extends to consulting with third party compliance partner(s) in the region to drive efficiency for this function. Supporting the Global Accounting function, this position has a mix of operational and project based responsibilities including but not limited to those listed below.Candidates will be expected to demonstrate they were top performers at their level.
What You’ll Do
Maintain a project plan and calendar for all compliance deliverables in conjunction with our global compliance partner to ensure adherence to all deadlines for a specific number entities in the EMEA sub-region.
Understand our business, operating model and processes in relation to local regulations and requirements. Work closely with our compliance partner to ensure changes to local requirements are communicated and understood.
Identify process improvements which will increase efficiency or address service levels with the compliance partner as needed.
Understanding of the requirements (and changes to) US GAAP to local statutory conversion for assigned entities and prepare the monthly US GAAP to statutory adjustments entries.
Assist in the preparation of annual statutory financial statements and support local external audit.
Responsible for providing explanations on periodical variance analysis of specific entities.
Monitors status on all compliance deadlines on a daily basis and communicates any concerns and anticipated issues, seeking to resolve wherever possible.
Works independently to research and resolve individual inquiries related to such requests liaising with accounting and tax as needed.
Review of statutory account reconciliations and preparation of direct and indirect tax US GAAP balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 4 years professional experience
A strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, principles and tax
Team player, have the ability to work independently and a strong desire to exceed expectations
Strong communication skills and ability to communicate key information and status to stakeholders
The ability to interact with all departments and levels throughout Uber
Solid organizational, project management skills, and information technology aptitude
Knowledge of Oracle R12
Big 4 experience is a strong plus
About the Team
We are looking to add a motivated Reporting Associate with a can-do attitude to our EMEA Team. The selected candidate will be a core part of a fast growing team that will be in charge of Uber’s tax and reporting compliance for EMEA in a specific sub-region. The Reporting Associate must have solid financial knowledge, who knows the importance of “doing things right” and communicating findings in a clear and concise manner. You will be based in Amsterdam.
