About the Role

   

This Accounting Manager for Emerging Products will have an impact on the way the accounting team is built, accounting policy is documented, processes and systems are implemented globally and cross functional collaboration is established. Emerging Products includes but is not limited to Jump Bike, scooters, Uber Transit, and the future of self-driving cars. You are a technical accountant expert but also savvy operationally to ensure optimal and efficient operations in a controls environment.

What You'll Do

 

  • This is a challenging and dynamic role offering the opportunity to build Uber’s accounting practice from the ground up for any emerging product or services
  • Collaborate with cross functional business partners and define accounting specific scope, goals, and deliverables with respect to new launches or changes in the business model for emerging new product or services
  • Monitor newly established accounting operations, including promptly identifying, communicating problems, and facilitating creative solutions to resolve blockers in timely manner to support accounting process for emerging product or services
  • Design and implement best in class accounting systems, processes and controls for new/emerging product or services to support regulatory and accounting compliance
  • Develop effective and efficient month end close, reporting and flux analysis processes as they are relates to the emerging product or services
  • Technical accounting expert and decision maker on related policy and procedures. Develop, document, implement and monitor operational accounting policies and procedures
  • Continuously strive for operational excellence - never settling for status quo. Ruthless prioritization to ensure operational effectiveness in a SOX environment while maintaining agility
  • Perform financial statement analysis and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations to assist management with business decisions for emerging product or services
  • Develop and implement process improvements, document desktop procedures, and processes to achieve efficiencies
  • Serve as primary point of contact and liaison for audit requests related to emerging product or services
  • Assist in communication with international entities and consolidations

 

 

What You'll Need

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA/CA or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant leadership work experience in public accounting and/or a high tech organization
  • Excellent leadership skills with collaborative working style and ability to work cross functionally
  • Ability to self-manage and execute in unstructured environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence and drive sound business decisions
  • Proven track record of increased responsibilities and scope
  • Solid knowledge of accounting policies/procedures and financial statements.
  • Strong program management and organization skills with an ability to plan and perform multiple tasks
  • Skills to author accounting or systems requirements, accounting and operational policies, and process flows
  • Ability to independently resolve complex problems where analysis requires the in-depth evaluation of numerous factors
  • Experience with Oracle R12 or another large scale ERP is preferred

 

About the Team

 

We build scalable & controlled processes and help implement accounting systems and automation for our Global Accounting function. This role resides in Uber’s Infrastructure accounting team within Global Accounting function.
