About the Role
As the Brasil Payroll Manager based in Sao Paulo, you will report to the LATAM Payroll Manager based in Mexico. You will be responsible for overseeing the Brasil Payroll processes and employee query support performed by the Payroll team reporting to you. You will also ensure that any Global Payroll Initiatives are supported and processes are standardized in coordination with the LATAM Payroll team, Payroll Global Process Owner (GPO), and work closely with upstream partners of Payroll such as PeopleOps, PeopleApps, Global Benefits, Equity, Compensation, Mobility, Cash Mgmt, Accounting, Tax, and Legal, and also external consultants to ensure local compliance.
What You’ll Do
Be responsible for prioritizing and communicating objectives, setting goals, and coordinating the efforts of the Brasil Payroll team members as they perform day-to-day payroll processes, and ensure that daily and pay period process responsibilities and SLAs are met
Be responsible for prioritizing and communicating objectives, setting goals, and coordinating the efforts of the Brasil Payroll Team members as they execute the payroll processes, respond to employee queries, research and resolve tax and eSocial compliance issues, support the completion of and ensure accuracy in payroll accounting processes, participate in projects, and complete audit and compliance responsibilities
Assume responsibility for the relationship with all external providers as required in support of Brasil Payroll
Ensure timely and accurate responses to field questions from internal and external teams and agencies by appropriately delegating and allocating work among team members
Monitor the employee support ticketing system and ensure SLAs are maintained with world class customer support
Coordinate with the LATAM Payroll team, and Payroll GPO team to implement new initiatives and processes to improve the Global Payroll function
Confirm required controls are completed and validated as part of routine payroll processing; raise any exceptions or discrepancies related to the application of business controls to management
Monitor and evaluate processes designed for control and compliance of payroll processing to ensure consistent on-time completion and accuracy
Contribute to the strategic direction and metrics reporting for the LATAM and Global Payroll team
Coordinate with the LATAM team and GPO team to ensure appropriate documentation (e.g., data collection templates, processing schedules, checklist, DTPs, intranet) for operational process and procedures are in place, up to date, and adhered to in a manner consistent with Global Payroll standards
Maintain knowledge, legal requirements, and government reporting regulations affecting Payroll compliance
Provide guidance to and share knowledge with the Brasil and LATAM Payroll team members relating to payroll compliance
Participate in new system implementations and process improvements related to payroll processes and perform user acceptance testing
Coordinate with the LATAM payroll team to ensure that adequate and consistent business continuity and recovery plans are in place
Provide inspiration, guidance, work direction, positive performance management, and support to maintain a high performing, collaborative team environment
Complete annual performance reviews, and work with team members on steps for career advancement
What You’ll Need
BA/BS degree desirable
At least need 7 years of experience managing the end to end payroll process with relevant experience
At least 3 years of management experience and ability to manage remote staff
General knowledge of ethics and practices within human resources and benefit administration and reporting
Working experience using a web-based payroll provider
Knowledge and understanding of Brazil payroll tax matters
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
Excellent organization skills with attention to detail and completeness
Project management skills
Hands-on, meaningful work ethic and can-do attitude
Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate key information and status to stakeholders
