About the Role


  • You are the point person in charge of overseeing daily flight operations and passenger scheduling for Uber’s first aviation and multi-modal product offering
  • You will be in charge of standing up and running Uber Elevate’s Air Operations Center, supporting definition and implementation of standard operating procedures for future operations

What You'll Do


  • You proactively manage daily flight operations, monitoring real-time aircraft and passenger status before, during, and after the operations window
  • You provide input to future flight schedules, working closely with our Flight Operations Manager to define upcoming daily and weekly flight plans
  • You identify potential problems and interruptions to operations ahead of time and decide on actionable solutions to resolve them
  • You work closely with other members of the team, particularly Multimodal, Skyport, and Flight operations leads to ensure coordination across the end-to-end customer journey
  • You make decisions on flight cancellations and rescheduling, prioritizing safety above all while also balancing needs to create a reliable and magical experience for riders
  • You ensure daily flight activity logs are accurate and capture relevant data and KPIs
  • You communicate bugs and additional requirements to the product and engineering teams for flight operations and scheduling software
  • You take initiative -- you own complex processes and demonstrate the ability to translate ambiguity into actionable guidance and implementable solutions with a particular eye toward our future operations
  • You think strategically, play it forward -- constantly measuring second and third order effects of decisions
  • You constantly search for new ways to improve the product -- proactively identifying new features which could improve a seamless experience for all users in the system
  • You work fast but never compromise on safety


What You'll Need


  • At least 7 years of supervisory or managerial experience in positions that exercised operational control over complex aviation operations conducted with rotary and/or small fixed wing aircraft
  • Deep understanding of complex aviation operations, including but not limited to minimum flight operations weather requirements, broader FAA and ICAO flight regulations, safety standards,  safe operating practices, and aircraft ground operations
  • Safety-first mindset, constantly assessing and evaluating flight operations and scheduling
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Partnership management or strong cross-functional stakeholder management experience
  • Ability to synthesize complex and evolving parameters into checklists, scopes, and standard operating processes
  • Ability to make difficult, data-driven decisions while under pressure, following defined processes and procedures while also applying flexibility when needed
  • Integrity, commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, and service-oriented
  • BA/BS with impressive academic record. Advanced degree preferred.


Bonus Points


  • FAA Commercial Pilot certificate in either rotorcraft or airplanes
  • Experience working for a major airline in a flight operations capacity
