About the Role

 

The Driver Growth Lead role for the Benelux (currently operating in all of the major cities in the Netherlands and Brussels) is a unique opportunity to further build and manage the core of what drives our business in one of EMEA’S key markets. You will play a critical role in, amongst others,  balancing the needs of seasoned licensed drivers, those new to the profession, local and national licensing processes and third party vehicle providers. You will be an essential member of the Benelux leadership team (reporting into the Benelux GM) and together with the Marketplace Lead have end responsibility for all operational aspects of our Rides business and management of 2 operations managers in the Benelux Driver Growth vertical.

 

We are looking for someone who has experience building, continuously improving and running complex customer facing business processes, who's obsessed with tinkering and iterating to obtain operational excellence and ‘Uber’ quality throughout the customer's experience. Growth targets, product strategy, managing third party relationships, acquisition budget and team management all sit under your responsibilities. Growing our driver base is the most important lever for future growth of our Benelux business and revolves around attracting, retaining and winning back people to drive on the Uber platform. You will need to be comfortable moving fast, adapting to change, think innovatively, solve problems at scale and inspiring and leading talented group of Benelux Operations Managers. In addition, you will need to be comfortable working closely with cross functional and cross regional teams of experts and stakeholders to leverage the full scale and knowledge of Uber and achieve the optimal outcomes.

 

Finally, you should be excited by the opportunity to create such an efficient and good product, that there will be no need for anyone in our major urban areas to own a private car. Our ultimate goal is moving more people with less cars enabling the cities where we operate to take the space that cars take up and give it back to their citizens.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Strategy. As part of the Benelux Leadership, you’ll work closely with the General Manager and other leaders across the Northern & Eastern European region to align, iterate and implement an overall vision and strategy.
  • Leadership. Build the team, roadmap, and processes to motivate and leverage existing and new employees to continually up-level their results, expectations, and stretch for increasingly higher levels of impact across all core operational metrics.
  • Operationalise & Optimize Processes. Create, build and reshape driver onboarding processes that scale across the Benelux sub-region (executed both centrally and localized) to allow the business to operate smoothly and grow along the most efficient channels .
  • Analytics & Optimization. Identify and make our metrics visible surrounding how we run and grow our business. Innovation starts with data intelligence, and the right metrics are at the foundation of this. Uber is a data driven company, you will need to understand statistics and be able to interpret large amounts of data / guide people in your team on the required data.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: In order to achieve the biggest impact efficiently you’ll need to rely on all parts, functions and knowledge of the Uber business. Interface with other functional areas (Central Ops, Comm Ops, Policy, Legal, Communications, Business Development, Finance, Eats, JUMP, Public Transit, etc.) and ensure efficient and productive working relationships

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in growth hacking, business process management, experience in operations, technology or a similar area. For example in complex operating environments, customer facing processes, regulated industries, fast growing start-ups, etc.
  • Experience working as part of a broader Senior Leadership Team
  • Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgement - you understand what drives value for customers at each stage in our onboarding process and can make sensible commercial decisions to reflect this, in addition you’re able to identify and target different customer cohorts to form a solid customer acquisition strategy
  • Effective project management - experience delivering on a multifaceted projects with many stakeholders
  • Stellar cross-functional working to build strong working relationships across different functional teams
  • Experience leading a team, with willingness to invest in the coaching and development of your team members
  • Ability to adapt with humility and resilience
  • A passion for serving customers and Uber and growing the service across the Benelux
  • Fluency in either French, Flemish or Dutch is not a must, but appreciated
