About the Role
As the Cities Lead for CEE, this person will play a critical role being the interface between our operations and functional teams (Policy, Legal, Tax, Comms, Finance), as well as our key stakeholders in the cities (i.e. regulators, government officials, business community, academia, not-for-profits). You will support launches of new markets, coordination of reform processes, and work on our strategy on new regulatory or compliance challenges. You will also help our teams to develop and nurture critical relationships in the cities for Uber that will grow our business, raise our profile and shift perceptions across a fast growth sub-region.
We believe in solving local problems with local solutions, so you will need to deeply understand your markets, be able to understand local regulations and are able to devise and deliver custom solutions to make every Uber trip a seamless experience for our riders and driver-partners. You seek out problems in your city and innovate ways to use our technology to help solve them.
What You’ll Do
Become the key representative of Uber's long term reputation in CEE, working closely with functional (e.g., marketing, operations, etc.) teams to deliver on our long term reputational commitments
Work with our Policy team to maintain and grow strong working relationships with local and national government stakeholders and regulators, notably to ensure a seamless process for candidate to become driver
Structuring new launches (defining reg framework / tax approach etc)
Working on compliance strategy around regulatory changes (PSDII; GDPR; etc)
Coordinate our Policy, Comms and Legal strategy in close coordination with each functional area, ensuring alignment and prioritization of projects
Engage with local public authorities (city representatives, transit venues, public transport operators, etc.) to develop partnerships and enhance multimodality
Identify strategic initiatives and areas the central and functional teams should focus on and become a key influencer, and often executor, of those initiatives
What You’ll Need:
A minimum of 6 years of experience of operations/ management consulting / investment banking / business development in a large business, or in growing a startup
Ability to work across a range of functional teams to achieve the best outcomes for our customers
Strong communication and organization skills
Outstanding negotiation, conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills
Adaptability and autonomy - you will need to juggle multiple projects in a continuously moving environment
Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking
Curious and eager to learn - you are interested in all things and can build up skills and knowledge very fast to become a recognized subject matter expert amongst your peers
Creative solutions driven mindset, with a get things done attitude
High Emotional IQ - you deal with private and public stakeholders with no problem
Background in Legal, Tax, Policy preferable, but not necessary
