Your guide to lazy weekends in Mumbai

August 18, 2017 / Mumbai

We get it. We know you’re not lazy but rather are in an energy-saving mode this weekend. Just for you, we’ve partnered with The City Story to sift through a list of things to do this lazy weekend in Mumbai. And of course, we’ll be waiting to get you to each of them, and then home again with the tap of a button so you don’t have to stress about one thing – where to?

SATURDAY

1. Grierson Documentaries

Go on a roller coaster of emotions as you make your way through handpicked Grierson Award winning documentaries across art, science, history and more. From the horrors of the holocaust in ‘The Night will Fall’ to a space odyssey in ‘Fabric of the Cosmos’ or the making of rock star David Bowie’s career, it’s a day long journey you don’t want to miss.

Why? John Grierson is widely regarded as the father of documentary. Little wonder then that the awards constituted in his name are the biggest event in the UK documentary calendar.

Where: antiSOCIAL, Rohan Plaza, 5th Rd, Ram Krishna Nagar, Khar West

When: 11 am

2. Mandala Colouring Saturdays

Start your weekend with a fun, relaxing activity. We know no one enjoys drawing complex figures and adult colouring is the ‘new thing’ now – so unleash your creativity with some soothing colour therapy.

Why? Who doesn’t love a therapeutic and calming weekend activity!

Where: Bombay Drawing Room, Shankar Rao Naram Path, Lower Parel

When: 2 pm

3. Japanese favourites

Team Mag Street is conducting a Japanese cooking workshop this Saturday. Learn how to prepare the best Japanese food with freshest and locally sourced ingredients.

Why? Enjoy a family style meal after the workshop.

Where: Magazine Street Kitchen, Gala No 13, Devidayal Compound, Gupta Mills Estate, Reay Road, Mumbai, Magazine St, Darukhana, Byculla

When: 11 am

SUNDAY

4. Comics 101 Workshop

How are comics made? How do you transform an idea to a script? What about art, panels, sketching? Understand the nuances with Meta-Desi Comics’ Akshay Dhar and independent publisher Abhijeet Kini before unleashing a super-hero of your own in your very own Marvel universe!

Why? It’s a chance to let lose all your childhood dreams and fantasies – be it Science Boy or Sandman.

Where: Raasta Bombay,  Rohan Plaza, 5th Road, S.V. Road, Khar West

When: 12 noon

5. Breakfast Bicycle Ride

Let go off the snug blankets and set your sights on the prized bun maska and kheema pav that beckons. Breeze through coastal Mumbai – right from Worli sea face to Bandstand to Gateway with fellow riders – soaking in the charm of colonial buildings and empty streets before digging in.

Why? The lure of Mumbai sans traffic and scrumptious breakfast, what more?

Where: Gateway of India, Apollo Bandar, Colaba

When: 6:30 am to 10:00 am
