Uber Freight expands its operations to Poland

Earlier this year, we brought Uber Freight’s technology to European customers across the Netherlands and Germany. We are excited to announce that Uber Freight is now launching in Poland. This is another important milestone in Uber’s continuous investment in the country.

Polish shippers and carriers have many of the same pain points as their European counterparts and can benefit from the technology Uber Freight has developed. The Polish transport sector, for example, is highly fragmented and typified by small carrier enterprises. Just as in other markets, these carriers experience the most difficulties with running a sustainable business. Uber Freight’s on-demand marketplace enables carriers of all sizes to participate and make every mile on the road more purposeful.

Poland is the second-largest market for carrier enterprises in Europe, and the logistics industry employs around 300,000 people. Digital solutions such as Uber Freight will be crucial for connecting shippers with available and reliable drivers to move their goods and support further economic growth.

The Uber Freight app connects carriers with loads to haul, offering upfront pricing, fast payment, and the ability to book loads with a few clicks. For shippers, Uber Freight unlocks access to a vast network of reliable carriers as well as real-time visibility into their supply chain.

Uber has been present in Poland for 5 years with its rides service and one year with its Uber Eats food delivery service. After the 2016 opening of Uber’s Center of Excellence in Poland, Uber launched JUMP’s Research and Development facility in January 2019.

Uber is a global company with a global mindset. Uber Freight’s expansion into Europe in March 2019 was an important first step toward bringing our vision of a more efficient, transparent freight marketplace to the international stage. As we grow, we will endeavor to be a reliable partner to European carriers, shippers, and everyone who’s working to build a bright future for Europe’s logistics industry.
