LTN regulations for Uber partner-drivers

Per LTN regulations, partner-drivers must adhere to the terms below or risk receiving a fine from LTN. If you receive a fine, Uber will not pay for the fine on your behalf.

  • All ride dropoffs must occur at the Priority Drop-off Zone
  • All ride pickups must occur at the Priority Pick-up Zone
  • You may be asked to show your app, please do so in a timely manner

Uber is a smart option for travelers heading to their airport. At LTN, simply drop-off riders at the Priority Drop-off Zone. It's important to keep the app on until you exit airport property.

How pickups work

It's easy to receive trip confirmations from riders leaving the airport. However, these trips work a little differently than others. To receive a trip confirmations at LTN, you need to enter a dedicated waiting area, where you will be placed in the queue to receive a trip confirmation from the airport.

Here’s how it works:

  • Drive into the dedicated waiting area located at Luton Airport Long Term Car Park and Luton Retail Park on Gipsy Lane.
  • You’ll be placed in the queue for the next pickup—pickups work on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Once you receive a trip confirmation, pick up your rider at the Priority Pick-up Zone
  • If the airport is crowded, consider contacting your rider to confirm their exact location

Please note that trips starting at Luton on uberX and uberXL follow the specific airport rates. For more information about the rates at the airport you can get a fare estimate.

Where to wait at LTN

Uber partner-drivers may wait for rides at the designated waiting area only. You will not receive an airport trip confirmations outside of these two areas:

  • Long Term car park at Luton Airport. Please note: You can park for FREE for up to 2 hours at the Luton Long Term Car Park. Stays longer than 2 hours will be charged at a full daily rate of £25, and there is no return within 4 hours. The car park is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

  • Gipsy Lane Retail car park. Please note: You can park for FREE for up to 3 hours at the Gipsy Lane stores Car Park. Stays longer than 3 hours will be charged at a full daily rate of £70, and there is no return within 5 hours. The car park is open from 7am-8pm, 7 days a week. Partner-drivers waiting at this car park outside the opening hours won't receive trip requests.

Designated pickup area at LTN

Uber users at Luton Airport who request rides will be instructed to meet you at the Priority Pick-up Zone located next to the taxi area.

To access this area, please stay to the left and follow signs for the Priority Pick-up Zone, there's only one.

When is it busy?

Plan your trips perfectly by checking the online arrivals board. On any day, you'll see when the most flights land. Generally, you can expect to be busy:

Monday-Friday: 8pm—1am

Sunday: 8pm—1am

If the trip queue is long, we recommend driving towards busier areas instead of waiting for a trip confirmation.

Riders fees at LTN

Priority Pick-up Zone

Luton Airport charges a £3 fee for 10 minutes at the Priority Pick-up Zone. The £3 surcharge will be added to the trip fare automatically, however, you will need to pay for this charge in-person at the car park.

After 10 minutes you will be charged £1 per minute, so confirm your rider is ready to go before driving into the Priority Pick-up Zone.

Priority Drop-off Zone

Luton Airport charges a £3 fee for 10 minutes at the Priority Drop-off Zone. The £3 surcharge will be added to the trip fare automatically, however, you will need to pay for this charge in-person at the car park.
