Steps to get a private hire licence
Step 1 - Book Driving Exam
This test checks your driving ability, and is carried out by an approved third-party company on behalf of the council. Although it is not a DVSA test, it is very similar to the standard driving test completed by those getting their driving licence for the first time.

Step 4 - Submit Private Hire Application
You must book your appointment directly with Leeds City Council to submit your application. You will be allocated a date and time where your must take all your documents.
Step 5 - Complete the English Comprehension, Customer Care & Local Knowledge Test
You will be given an appointment for your basic skills test at your application submission appointment. Book your Knowledge test through the licensing team.
Step 6 - Collect Badge
The licensing team will be in contact with you once your license is ready for collection.
