Steps to get a private hire licence
Step 1 - Complete Enhanced DBS
Make an appointment to submit your Enhanced DBS application by calling 0121 303 8442.
Bring with you the documents required for your DBS: t.uber.com/DBS.
If you have lived outside the UK since your 18th birthday for any period over three months, you will also need to obtain a certificate of good conduct from the relevant embassy of that country when submitted your application for a private hire licence: t.uber.com/ctc
Step 2 - Complete your Medical
Book an appointment with the Birmingham Council Occupational Health Service on 0121 303 2096
Attend your medical on the date provided.
Step 3 - Complete your Disability Awareness Training
Complete the form at t.uber.com/bhm_dat
Return this to the address on the form.
Make an appointment to complete your Disability Awareness Training by calling 03030 40 20 40.
Step 4 - Complete your Driving Assessment
Make an appointment with the Birmingham City Council Driving School on 0121 303 3311
Attend your Driving Assessment on the day given by the driving school.
Step 5 - Submit your Enhanced DBS certicate to the council

Make an appointment to submit the application to the council by calling 0121 303 8442
Bring with you:
- Completed application form
- Knowledge test certificate
- Completed medical form
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Driving test certificate
- Disability awareness training certificate
- Driving licence
- Proof of national insurance
- 4x passport photos.
When you receive your licence from the council, come see us to get on the road.
