About the Role



We are currently searching for a Senior Counsel, Equity Compensation and HR M&A Legal as part of an effort to build a team of legal professionals who will support Uber’s global compensation and benefits policies. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and to work on cutting edge issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Legal Director - Global Executive Compensation & Benefits and is based in Uber’s corporate HQ in San Francisco. 

What You Will Do

  • Counsel clients on the design, implementation, and administration of equity compensation plans, including the application of global securities and tax laws
  • Partner with and support Uber’s M&A teams on global employee-related legal issues, including executive compensation, equity compensation, employee benefits, and coordinating global employment law issues
  • Deliver effective and practical compliance counseling and advice with respect to the above

What You Will Need

  • 8+ years of equity compensation and M&A experience in private practice, government service, and/or in-house role
  • Strong knowledge of securities laws and the Internal Revenue Code (including section 409A)
  • Experience with global securities and tax laws preferred
  • Law degree from an accredited institution and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar
  • Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, and innovative thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues
  • Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and ability to constructively manage change
  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and influence employees at every level to embrace compliance initiatives
  • Desire to be part of a cohesive and supportive team environment
