We are currently searching for Legal Counsel based in Johannesburg, South Africa for this growing region with expertise in commercial, litigation and regulatory law. You will work together within a dynamic legal team to help support the dynamic growth of the business across the region. You will report directly to the Senior Counsel for SSA.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Work closely with the Senior Counsel, SSA and other Legal Counsel across SSA on regulatory, compliance, litigation, policy, and commercial matters as well as broader business issues
Provide pragmatic, strategic and proactive legal advice to internal stakeholders across SSA, Europe and the Middle East
Effectively manage outside counsel and spend to achieve objectives across the Uber platform
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements autonomously
Understand, interpret, and apply both national and cross-border regulations as applicable to Uber’s business model
at Uber we work as a team, and you’ll be expected to work with others in a constructive manner to achieve the goals of the business
WHAT YOU NEED
5+ years post-qualification experience with a preference for candidates with in-house experience. Experience in civil law jurisdictions will be an advantage
Fluent in written and spoken in English; fluency in French will be a distinct advantage
Strong academic credentials
Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills
Strong profile and experience
