About the Role
Uber's Strategic Finance team is uniquely positioned to have visibility into Uber’s overall global business and use financial and operational data to reach insights others might not be able to make. The team is responsible to work closely with cross-functional teams to support with financial planning, tracking key financial metrics, driving efficiency, and making product and business recommendations.
In the Strategic Finance Summer Associate role, you will support one of our high growth businesses and will have the opportunity to use these insights to helps us prioritize initiatives and reach conclusions. As part of the summer program, your deliverable will be a business recommendation to the Strategic Finance Leadership team.
What You'll Do
Work cross-functionally across the organization to develop financial forecasts and operational goals
Apply business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision making related to new initiatives, products, and business opportunities
Build sophisticated financial models from scratch, improve existing models, and break complex models down into component parts
Lead initiatives that globally optimize our different product P&Ls
Help us scale / transition from startup to enterprise
Work closely with accounting to provide input on management reporting needs and better understand our actuals
Partner closely with the Global team that supports the Rides business
Cross-functional collaboration/partnership with global teams supporting Operations, Strategy & Planning, Product, Business Development, etc. to drive growth
Launch new products
“Find the Money” through operating efficiencies in Uber’s largest business
What You'll Need
Current enrollment in the first year of a full-time MBA program with undergraduate/masters degrees in Finance, Accounting, Economics, STEM or other quantitative disciplines
Minimum of 3 years of relevant analytical and management experience in the technology industry, investment banking, or management consulting
Ability to structure effective presentations
Communication and people skills - numbers are key, but a business is built with people
Bonus Points For
Experience with Excel, SQL, and/or statistical software packages
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and enterprise-level financial planning systems
