Through conversations with drivers and riders, we’ve learned that Uber Black is not always the premium experience it’s expected to be. To improve the experience, make it more consistent, and help differentiate Uber Black from other options, we’re making changes. These changes include investing in marketing efforts to help increase trips, making product improvements, and updating eligibility criteria to raise the bar on quality.
New rating criteria
Starting April 1, 2019, we’re rolling out a new rating criteria of at least 4.75. Starting January 2020, the rating criteria will increase to 4.85 or more. Get tips from drivers on how to improve.
If your rating stays below 4.75 after April 1, 2019, you’ll start to receive UberX or UberXL instead of Black or Black SUV trips.
