Perth, we’ve put together ‘what you need to know’ about UberPool so you can get the most from each experience.
UberPool works best with the navigation in your Driver app
For a smooth UberPool navigation experience, we recommend using Uber Navigation. When you’re on an UberPool trip, the app will automatically add pickups and dropoffs to your route in real time.
You can set your preferred navigation by tapping on Account > App Settings > Navigation. If you’re using an iPhone, you can select Uber Navigation as the default just for UberPool trips.
Additional riders will be added to your trip automatically
To minimise interactions with your phone, we’ve made accepting and adding more riders along an UberPool trip super easy.
Tap to accept a trip request as you usually would. From this point on, each additional UberPool request you receive will be automatically accepted and added to the route.
Upfront fares are rarely adjusted
With UberPool, riders can’t change their pickup or dropoff locations, or add detours. As a result, fares are rarely adjusted for UberPool trips.
Need a break? You can stop new requests from coming in
Bring up the Trip Planner on the bottom right corner of your screen, then tap the ‘stop new requests’ button. This will stop the app from adding new riders to your current UberPool trip.
You can adjust the number of riders at pickup
Riders can request an UberPool trip for up to two riders – you’ll be able to see how many riders are joining in the Driver app when you arrive at the pickup location.
If the rider has input the wrong number of people, and you have enough seats to accommodate, you can adjust their request in the app. Tap on the number of seats next to the rider’s name to do so.
Riders are told they might need to walk to be picked up and dropped off
When choosing UberPool, riders are aware that they may need to walk a little to get to a pickup point, or from a dropoff point. In Perth, we’ve mapped out safe and efficient pickup and dropoff locations.
If you come across an unsafe location and want to report it, you can do so in the Driver app – head to Help > Trip issues and adjustments > Report a bad UberPool pickup or dropoff location.
You’ll get to rate each rider separately
When you’ve completed an entire UberPool trip, you’ll have the opportunity to rate each of the riders separately, and each rider can rate you. The rating screen will appear after you’ve dropped off the last rider.
It won’t affect your overall rating if a rider rates negatively against something that was out of your control, like ‘Route by Uber’ or ‘Had to walk’.
The app will make sure you don’t have more than 4 riders at one time
With UberPool, the app won’t send you more than a total of 4 riders at the same time – so you don’t have to worry about running out of space in your car.
