Limited Quantity Orders

6 September / Australia

What are Limited Quantity orders?

Limited Quantity orders involve limited amounts of dangerous goods that are permitted to be transported under the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods (the ADG code). While these orders are safe to transport, they still require specific handling to ensure Delivery People’s safety.

Common products that are classified as dangerous goods include:

  • Perfume

  • Cleaning products like oven cleaner, bleach and air fresheners

  • Batteries

  • Firelighters

How to identify Limited Quantity orders?

Limited Quantity orders must be packaged in a particular way according to the ADG code. The best way to identify these orders is by looking for the diamond-shaped label, which indicates that the packaging meets ADG code requirements.

How to handle Limited Quantity orders?

Before transporting, inspect the outer packaging for damage, leaks, or unsealed packages.

If any issues are found:

  1. Let the merchant know and cancel the delivery by selecting the “I feel unsafe” option in the Uber Driver app. This will not affect status or rating.
  2. Let Uber know through the “Help” section in the Uber Driver app, or by visiting help.uber.com.

Additional Tips:

  • Keep these orders separate from food deliveries.

  • Follow any arrow labels to ensure correct orientation during transport.

Delivering Limited Quantity orders while the package is damaged or defective to the extent that it is not safe to use to transport the goods by road could result in fines imposed by the government, with the maximum fine varying depending on each State and Territory:

  • Australian Capital Territory (ACT): $3,200
  • New South Wales (NSW): $2,200
  • Northern Territory (NT): $3,700
  • Queensland (QLD): $3,226
  • South Australia (SA): $2,000
  • Tasmania (TAS): $4,040
  • Victoria (VIC): $3556.62
  • Western Australia (WA): $5,000

Note: this information is current as of 1 September 2024.
