Celebrating the Gold Coast during the Games

May 9, 2018 / Brisbane

Watch as Uber helped celebrate the city of the Gold Coast during the Games in 2018 as locals, visitors and athletes explored stadiums, venues and celebration zones with Uber.

The Games by the numbers

With the Games taking over the Gold Coast, locals and visitors alike were out and about. Here are some of the most popular Ubered-to spots during the Games.

During the Games, the number of kilometres travelled using Uber was equivalent to over 30 million laps of an olympic-sized swimming pool.

The most popular Games venue during this time was Carrara Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics events.

Taking home the gold for the most visited restaurant was Hellenika Restaurant, a traditional Greek restaurant metres from Miami Beach.

In first place for the most visited to Gold Coast beach is Burleigh Heads Beach, a World Surfing Reserve with a beautiful National Park.

Where to? Gold Coast

Welcoming people from all around the world, we had visitors from over 260 different cities and 73 countries moving around the Coast with Uber.

The top 5 visiting Commonwealth countries that increased were the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Brazil, Singapore and Canada.

The most Ubered-to destination from the Athlete’s Village was The Star, probably for some well-deserved chill time.
