New premium driving requirements for San Diego | May 17th, 2017

Rating criteria

Beginning May 17th, 2017 all BLACK and SUV driver-partners will be required to maintain a rating of 4.80 or above.¹

SELECT driver-partners will be required to maintain a rating of 4.70 or above.

Eligibility details

On May 17th, 2017, we’re launching a new, more premium driving experience. Based on partner feedback, the new SELECT, BLACK and SUV will reward partners for high ratings.

  • Access for high ratings: Only those with a rating of 4.80 or above will be eligible to take trips on BLACK and SUV.¹ Driver-partners with a rating of 4.70 or above will be eligible to take trips on SELECT.
  • More ride requests: With fewer partners who qualify to drive on our premium options, you can expect to receive more requests.

How to qualify

If you meet the 4.80 rating and vehicle criteria, you will have the option to receive BLACK and SUV trips.¹

If you meet the 4.70 rating and vehicle criteria, you will have the option to receive SELECT trips.

If your rating falls below the rating requirement at any time, you will still have the chance for re-qualification. Your rating will be reassessed after your next 50 trips.

How your rating is calculated

Your rating is an average of your most recent 500 trips

  • All trips on all vehicle options are included in the 500-trip average.
  • Canceled trips do not count toward your rating.

More high-rated trips help improve your rating

  • Since your rating is an average of your last 500 trips, the more 5-star trips you do, the more your rating will go up.
  • As an average of your last 500 trips, one low-rated trip has less of an effect on your rating when you consistently have high-ratings.

Where can I find my rating?

  • You can find your partner rating in your Uber Driver app and on your Uber partner dashboard.

How is my rating calculated?

  • Your rating is an average of the last 500 trip ratings your riders submitted. All trips on all vehicle options are included in the 500-trip average. Canceled trips and unaccepted ride requests do not affect your overall rating.

Why is a minimum partner rating now required?

  • Over the past few months, we collected feedback from hundreds of partners on how we can improve our premium options. In our survey, more than 60% of partners told us that driver rating should help decide who gets trips. Creating a minimum partner rating will reward top-rated partners and create a more premium experience for riders.

When does my rating need to meet the minimum rating requirement?

  • Starting May 17th, 2017 in San Diego, partners will need a rating of 4.80 or above to be eligible to take trips on BLACK and SUV.¹ Starting the same date, driver-partners with a rating of 4.70 or above will be eligible to take trips on SELECT.

What happens if my rating falls below the minimum rating requirement after I qualify?

  • After every 50 trips, your rating will be reassessed. That means that if your rating falls below the rating requirement at any time, you will still have the chance for re-qualification.
  • If your new rating is 4.80 or above, you will be eligible to take trips on BLACK and SUV within 24 hours.¹ If your new rating is 4.70 or above, you will be eligible to take trips on SELECT within 24 hours.

If my rating is below the rating criteria, will I still have the option to receive trips?

  • If your driver rating is below the minimum requirement for BLACK and SUV (4.80) and your fleet manager’s vehicles are signed up to receive SELECT, X, XL, and POOL trips, you will still be able to accept those trips on enrolled vehicles.
  • If your driver rating is below the minimum requirement for SELECT (4.70) and your vehicle is signed up to receive X, XL, and POOL trips, you will still be able to accept those trips on enrolled vehicles.

What can I do to increase my rating?
