Driving at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Airport regulations

Per airport regulations, drivers must adhere to the terms below. Failure to do so may result in a $1,000 citation. Uber will not pay for citations.

  • When on airport property, the Driver app must be open at all times (please do not sign out until you exit the airport).
  • You may be asked to show your waybill. To access it, tap Waybill in your app.
  • It is illegal under state and federal law for anyone, including rideshare drivers, to engage in price fixing. This includes agreeing or coordinating with other drivers (in airport staging lots or elsewhere) on pricing and surge pricing. The law requires that drivers must make decisions about pricing and surge pricing on their own.

Pro tip

Please be respectful of surrounding neighborhoods and local traffic/vehicle codes when waiting for an airport pickup.

Pickups at the airport

It’s easy to receive trip requests from riders leaving the airport. However, these trips work a little differently than other requests.

How it works

  • Accept the trip request before you enter the airport.
  • Follow the signs for valet and Ride Share Pick-Up to the west island across from Terminal B: it is labeled “Rideshare Pickup Area”.
  • For smooth pickups, try calling or texting your rider to confirm they are waiting for you at the island.
  • Pull all the way forward to the end of the island . Do not double park, ; if there’s no space along the island curb, simply re-circle the airport.
  • Pick up your rider, start your trip, and exit the airport.

Note: using the short-term parking structure for pickups is not allowed. You will not be reimbursed for accrued parking fees and may result in citations.

Driver cancellations

You help keep airports running smoothly. To help riders and drivers have a great Uber experience at airports:

  • Please follow any airport rules and regulations. Additionally, if you’re picking up riders at the airport, please be available to complete all ride requests you accept.
  • Asking riders for their destination and then canceling can cause problems for riders trying to get home and drivers waiting for their next trip.
  • Understand that by improperly using the app and intentionally disrupting the service for riders or drivers, including excessively canceling rides or asking riders to cancel rides, drivers may lose the ability to provide transportation to or from airports.

Dropoffs at the airport

Simply drop off riders at the passenger loading/unloading curb in front of the Terminal. It’s important to keep the Driver app on until you exit airport property.

Pro-tip: Use the middle lane to bypass the congestion in front of Terminal A an drop off rider at Terminal B.

Staging information

Please reference the image below and note the waiting area

Uber partners may wait for ride requests at the designated staging area only. You will not receive an airport request outside of this lot (and may be issued a citation).

Enter the staging area to join the virtual queue. Keep in mind that:

  • The lot is “first in, first out”; upon entering the staging line, you will be placed in line for the next trip request
  • If you leave the staging lot or turn off your app, you will be placed at the back of the line
  • Staging at terminals or elsewhere on airport property is prohibited and may result in a citation

Riders at BUR who request trips will be instructed to meet you at the west island located across from Terminal B. Follow the signs for valet to the area labeled “Rideshare Pickup Area.”

There will be 6 spaces available at the designated pickup area. Please pull all the way forward to the end of the island to pick up your riders.

Important reminders

  • You may not pick up anywhere else at the airport.
  • If all 6 spaces are taken, simply re-circle the airport.
  • If your riders are not at the island, you may not wait for them. It’s a good idea to call them ahead of time to make sure they’re ready.
  • The short-term parking structure is no longer available for pickups. If you use the structure, you will be responsible for the $3 fee.
