Houston rodeo 2018
Are you ready for H-Town’s biggest event of the year? The Houston rodeo kicks off Tuesday, 2/27 and runs through Sunday 3/18. For the next three weeks, hundreds of thousands of Houstonians will be heading to NRG to enjoy some family fun, cheer on the cowboys and cowgirls, and attend nightly concerts featuring some of the biggest country and pop artists in the industry.
With so many people needing transportation to and from the festivities, rodeo season is a great time to get on the road and earn.
Busiest times to drive
After BBQ weekend, we expect the busiest times of rodeo 2018 to be the nights of the Garth Brooks performances on Tuesday, February 27, and Sunday, March 18. You can also expect more ride requests on the weekend concert dates, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
Requests tend to be highest as rodeo attendees head to NRG a few hours prior to the concert, and again in the hours following the end of the performance.
Picking up at NRG
This year, the rodeo has designated an Uber pickup and dropoff area in the Green Lot outside of NRG Stadium. You can drop off your riders in any safe location near the stadium, and riders will be directed to the Green Lot or an additional pickup point when they request a ride home. There will be heavy foot traffic in the area surrounding NRG, so please follow all signs and directions from traffic officials as you head to the pickup area.
Greet & verify your rider
With huge crowds and many people requesting rides, you'll want to make sure you've picked up the right person. Greet your rider and ask their name—if it matches what's shown in your app, you can start the trip!
Don't drive distracted
Riders trust you to get them to their destination safely. Using a phone mount can help you avoid distractions that may take your eyes off the road, such as texting and driving.
