Roadmap to the
Boston Marathon®
Marathon Monday is one of the city's proudest days of the year, and as the Official Ride of the Boston Marathon®, we’ve put together a guide with everything you need to know about the week—from navigating road closures to information on the Uber Road to the Race tent at Copley Square.

Road Closures
On Monday, April 16, there will be a number of road closures in Boston. Most roads should be open again by 8pm that evening, but it’s good to know which roads will be closed in advance to keep your trips as smooth as possible.
Here is a list of the major closures scheduled for April 16:
- 5am – 7pm: Charles Street, adjacent to the Boston Common
- 6am – 8pm: Boylston Street, between Hereford and Arlington Streets
- 8am – 7pm: All streets east of Massachusetts Avenue (as well as Massachusetts Turnpike Exit 22)
- 8am – 7pm: All streets west of Massachusetts Avenue in the Kenmore Square/Audubon Circle area
- 8:30am-7pm: All streets in the Brighton area leading to the route
The highlighted area will be closed on 4/16/18 for the Boston Marathon®.
Dedicated Uber Pickup Spots
As the Official Ride of the Boston Marathon®, we’ve worked with Marathon officials to designate multiple dedicated Uber pickup and dropoff areas along the race route to make driving on Marathon Monday as seamless as possible.
Your riders will be directed to meet you at these areas if they are close to one. As always, you can use your Uber in-app navigation to find your rider.
Airport Information
Big things happening in Boston
We noticed that most out-of-town visitors make their way into the city on Saturday and leave the Tuesday after the race. We expect an increase in airport pickups on Saturday and an increase in airport drop-offs on Tuesday.

Race Day Pro Tips
Keep in contact with your rider
The busy traffic on race day can cause stress for both you and your rider. We recommend giving your rider a call when you’re having trouble getting to them, or when the traffic will cause your ETA to be higher than expected.
Confirm your rider's name
It helps to confirm you have the right rider by asking for their name and verifying it in the app. If you do pick up the wrong person, reach out to our support team at help.uber.com and we'll help sort it out.
High fives for runners
If you happen to pick up a marathon runner, help them celebrate this huge accomplishment!
No sneakers left behind
Did a rider leave something your car? You can snap a picture of any lost items and get in contact with the rider through the app. You’ll receive $15 once the item is returned.
Power up for Race Day with Uber
Come join us at Uber’s Road to the Race tent in Copley Square on race weekend.
We’ll be gearing up for the Marathon with Equinox-led pre-race sessions, cold pressed juices from Pressed, a sign-making station, and more.
When: April 13–15, 9am to 6pm Where: Copley Square | Boston, MA
Please note that parking around the tent will be limited.
