About the job
The New Mobility team at Uber is building products to support the Bikes and Scooters business, both under the JUMP brand (acquired by Uber) and in partnership with other providers.
The Optimization Data Science team sits within the broader New Mobility Data Science group. As a data scientist on the Optimization team you’ll be building the algorithms and doing the analysis that drive increases in utilization and reduce the operational costs of our fleets of bikes and scooters.
The team is at a stage where we are constantly working with time tradeoffs. New Mobility, a startup-within-Uber, is at a stage of very rapid growth.
What you'll do
Provide analysis using mathematical and operations research modeling tools to improve business processes and decisions
Generate ideas for exploratory analysis to shape future projects and provide recommendations for action.
Build predictive models and apply optimization algorithms to improve business processes
Design experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and actionable conclusions
Create dashboards and reports to regularly communicate results and monitor key metrics
Present findings to senior management to inform business decisions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across disciplines such as product, engineering, operations, and marketing
What you'll need
Minimum 3 years of experience in a quantitative analysis role with Analytics, Machine Learning, Optimization
BA/BS/MS in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative field (advanced degrees are a plus)
Excellent SQL skills and the ability to develop statistical analysis and machine learning software in a programming language. Most of our packages and other reusable code are in Python.
Machine learning/statistical modeling, optimization/data analytics and experimentation skills
Ability to deliver on tight timelines and move quickly while maintaining attention to detail
Work closely with cross-functional teams to execute on decisions
Self-driven with the ability to work in a self-guided manner
