About The Role

 

As the Product lead for the Courier Pricing area, you will envision and execute a strategy that creates a reliable and motivating source of earnings for hundreds of thousands of delivery partners while driving an efficient business. The Courier Pricing team develops the product experiences, pricing features, algorithms and platforms for delivery partners on Uber Eats, globally.

 

We have some unique and tough challenges - How do you design the base fares in different markets around the world? How would we leverage real-time and non-real-time pricing structures/models balance the health of our marketplace, and also create fair & predictable earnings? How should these pricing structures interact with the rest of our marketplace, on the eater side and dispatch? How do we communicate all of this in a simple way to delivery partners so they understand their earnings opportunity?

 

You will partner with a team of enormously talented engineers, data scientists, designers and UX researchers to build tools and technology to answer this. You will work closely with cross-functional leaders in strategy, finance, policy, legal, marketing and operations to ensure our products support the needs of our global business.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Internalize and deeply understand Uber Eats' mission and strategies, as well as the needs and motivations of the diverse set of delivery partners who use the platform globally.  
  • Lead the Courier Pricing charter. Define a narrative for how that roadmap aligns with company-level and regional business priorities.
  • Distill the vision and strategy for the team, generate enthusiasm across cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Drive innovation, research, design and planning of entirely new products and features. Challenge your cross-functional team to think boldly and channel that energy into concrete action  
  • Generate and validate product ideas through continuous experimentation
  • Be incredibly truth-seeking. Collect whatever data and research insights are necessary to inform product direction by soliciting and embracing critical feedback
  • Clearly communicate plans, insights, data and results to a spectrum of audiences including executives, other product teams, and other decision-makers across Uber Eats
  • Work with the global operations team and cross-functional stakeholders to understand the requirements of Uber Eats' regional markets and ensure successful global deployment of new systems and models

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • Minimum 3 years experience delivering highly successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them -- and you're deeply proud of what you've accomplished
  • Strong customer empathy, with an ability to transform complex data and customer insights into a prioritized roadmap
  • Results and metrics-oriented. You create clear definitions of success and guide prioritization and ideation against that. Focused on building businesses, not features
  • Leadership and communication. Proven ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members up to and including the executive-level
  • A great collaborator, biased toward action and an excellent disambiguator/simplifier - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Finger-tippiness with data. You find a way to get the data you need and whip it into an insightful story with no help. You know how to use this data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and designers to deliver extraordinary products
  • Growth mindset.  A deep desire to learn
  • True passion for Uber Eats' mission, our products, and the company's hybrid technology/operations nature
  • Academic background or equivalent work experience in computer science, data science, statistics, machine learning, economics or engineering highly preferred

 

About the Team

 

Courier Pricing is part of the Uber Eats’ Marketplace group. The Marketplace group builds the platform, products, and algorithms responsible for the real time execution and online optimization of Uber Eats' marketplace. We are building the brain of Uber Eats, solving NP-hard algorithms and economic optimization problems at scale, in real time, making all of the decisions for Uber Eats' marketplace based on up-to-the-second data as well as forecasts of the future.

 

We focus on areas like dynamic pricing (surge pricing, upfront pricing), intelligent dispatching (matching algorithms, dispatch paradigms), and supply positioning (optimal positioning of couriers in anticipation of demand patterns). The goal of these systems is to dramatically lower cost & ETAs for eaters, increase revenue for delivery partners, improve the overall efficiency and utilization of Uber’s Eats' fleet of supply.
