About the Role
Uber Eats is looking for a head of product design for a new team that will transform how people get their groceries. In this role, you’ll develop a vision for a brand new product offering, and you’ll build and manage a world class design team in Toronto.
What You’ll Do
You’ll wear many hats as part of a small, entrepreneurial team working on a brand new business opportunity
You’ll get your hands dirty, designing early experiments to learn more about opportunities in the grocery space
You’ll be part of a highly autonomous team moving at a fast-paced, startup environment
You’ll customize and scale this product offering to markets around the world
You’ll be a key thought partner to our Toronto-based product and engineering teams, helping establish and execute on a vision for the future of grocery
You’ll build a world-class design team and culture at Uber’s Toronto office
You’ll partner with our research team to better understand how people eat around the world
You’ll work with your counterparts on the eater, restaurant, and courier experience teams to explore how grocery fits into the Uber Eats family
You’ll teach the soft and hard skills. You’ll help designers become the collaborative glue that inspires product management and engineering while also developing their core competencies at envisioning what could be
What You’ll Need
Stellar product and design judgment
Experience building brand new experiences from scratch
Experience leading and growing product design teams
At least 14 years of design experience, and at least 8 as a manager
Ability to mentor junior and senior designers, and to give creative direction to bring out their best work
Clear and effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Bonus points if you have experience with ecommerce, marketplace businesses or service design
“Driver” mindset. You are biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master disambiguator/simplifier, and constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on
Experimental. You have a creative mindset that enjoys experimentation and is willing to take bold bets despite risk of failure
Foodie. You are passionate about food and evolving how the world eats
