About the Role
From ridesharing to food delivery, drivers are the oxygen that powers Uber's services. And with millions of active drivers around the world, we play an important role in the livelihood and ambition of millions of people. This is a privilege we take very seriously. We make this happen by helping people become drivers and couriers, ensuring safety and compliance of all drivers, building a great driver app and driving experience, powering earnings and flexibility, recognizing driver commitment and quality service, and connecting drivers and vehicle owners so even drivers without cars can earn a living on Uber.
We are looking for someone to lead the product team that builds Uber’s Driver app. This isn’t just any app - it plays a crucial role in the livelihood of millions of drivers around the world, and cumulative usage is equivalent of 1,000 years of Uber driving packed into any given 24 hours. Building a great driver app is fundamental to doing right by drivers, and to delivering a seamless experience for riders.
What You’ll Do
This person will be owning the Uber Driver app. Opportunity to build more capabilities for the Driver app and help build a better relationship with driver
Capabilities include: Creating community between drivers, providing a platform to celebrate driver accomplishments, presenting new opportunities to drivers. Other areas include: safety, payments, pickup and onboarding.
Leading - and continuing to build - one of the top consumer product/tech teams in the Valley. This team is going to be vanguard what happens to the Driver app.
Envisioning the future of work on the Uber platform - and flawlessly executing against this vision. Vision: Creating a relationship with driver. Create a community for drivers.
Playing a key role in our global efforts to transform the driver experience into the world’s most cherished work platform.
Being a thought leader - inside and outside Uber - around building high-impact, best-in-class products.
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for a brilliant Product Leader with deep empathy for drivers, a unique desire to connect digital and physical worlds, and experience turning complex experiences into elegant products that delight.
Need good balance of consumer-facing and business experience.
Strong empathy (wants to get on the app and try to drive), and can work as a shepherd of the experience instead of a possessive owner; someone who has an interest in understanding how things work in other regions across the world
A “driver” personality - biased toward action, great collaborator and master disambiguator/simplifier - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery.
Data-driven: you always get the data you need, and you can distill it into an insightful story. Most importantly, you leverage data to drive strategic decisions.
Technical skills. Ability to inform and evaluate engineering decisions.
User-focused - you are passionate about always making the user experience positive and unwilling to allow product challenges to impact users negatively.
Unquestioned integrity with assertiveness, presence, and confidence. Excellent influencing skills at all levels in the organization, acute flexibility in a dynamic, ever changing environment. Competence in making timely, effective, principles-based decisions.
