We are currently searching for a Sr. Counsel, Global Compliance who will continue the work of building a world class compliance program for all of Uber.   • Work directly with Uber’s Director II, Global Compliance, to execute an effective compliance program, including providing employees with clear policies and procedures
  • Take primary responsibility for the day-to-day administration of Uber’s global employee whistleblower helpline, including managing intake and assignment of matters, monitoring case aging and closure, and aggregating helpline data for reporting obligations
  • Lead the Compliance team’s conflict of interest program, including intake, review and resolution of employee and third party potential conflicts of interest
  • Work with cross-functional team to perform anti-corruption due diligence on relevant business partners, and, where applicable, take steps to remediate compliance risks
  • Review, assess and respond to requests by employees to give or receive business courtesies
  • Provide effective and practical compliance counseling and advice in the areas of anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, competitive intelligence and other areas of business conduct  
  • Identify compliance risks and successfully drive remediation efforts  
  • Collaborate with other leaders on cross-functional initiatives  
  • Help us innovate our Compliance program by leveraging Uber’s talent and resources to develop cutting edge Compliance solutions




  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in private practice, government service, and/or in-house roles. Technology and international experience strongly preferred.  Experience in a regulated industry, while not required, is helpful
  • Law degree from an accredited institution and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required
  • Substantial experience with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and comparable anti-corruption laws and regulations; international competition laws and regulations; global data privacy laws; and familiarity with political contribution and government pay to play rules;  
  • Experience counseling business leaders to navigate Compliance risks
  • Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment and innovative thinking
  • Dynamic and resilient individual with the demonstrated ability to make decisions and influence, persuade and build consensus in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated effectiveness operating in complex organizational environments and self-starter qualities
  • Familiarity with the global framework affecting the technology industry, such as  international laws governing technology, interactions with government institutions and government officials, antitrust and competition issues
  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct                                                                            
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and influence employees at every level to embrace compliance initiatives
  • Able and willing to travel internationally
  • Fluency in English is required (secondary language skills are highly preferred)
