About the Role


Uber is changing the world, and the Uber Legal Team is proud to be part of that. We’re looking for an exceptional paralegal to join our Emerging Technologies legal team. The Emerging Technologies legal team supports Uber’s cutting edge business units, which include self-driving vehicles (Uber ATG) and vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft (Uber Elevate).

What You’ll Do

  • Provide support to a group of attorneys on federal, state and local regulatory legal issues for both Uber’s Advanced Technologies group and Uber’s Elevate program
  • You will support a dynamic team of attorneys with experience across the technology industry, law firms and government
  • Track and report on legislative and regulatory developments affecting autonomous vehicles (AV), drones and vertical take-off and landing aircraft (VTOL), including tracking dozens of legislative and regulatory dockets, calendaring important regulatory deadlines, and managing team archives
  • Conduct factual and legal research on regulatory issues pertaining to AVs, drones and VTOLs.  Such projects may include review of existing laws
  • Spearhead the assembly, completion and submission of regulatory filings, including applications and formal comments
  • Facilitate the preparation of NDAs and other standard contractual forms
  • Act as a generalist that is able to pitch in on a variety of projects that arise for the Emerging Tech legal team

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of paralegal, or similar experience working on regulatory legal issues, in government, industry or at a law firm
  • Familiarity with government processes and fluency with online legal research services, as well as word processing, spreadsheet and slides/powerpoint tools
  • Excellent work ethic; detail-oriented, able to balance overlapping deadlines
  • Well organized to facilitate management of team activities and past deliverables
  • Excellent written skills and ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work independently, also must be proactive, collaborative, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Genuine interest in new technologies
  • Flexibility to perform in nimble, rapidly changing and growing environments; highly adaptable paired with attention to scaling
  • Inquisitiveness, creativity, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address
  • Strong communication skills
  • Collaborative approach with both business and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others
