What You'll Do

  • Provide legal support to all business operations in the West region in fast-paced, high impact, and high profile situations.
  • Exciting hands-on work on first-of-its-kind regulatory and legislative matters, including drafting comments for regulatory proceedings, analyzing draft legislation, and interacting with regulators for the company on novel legal issues.
  • Work closely with the operations, policy, product, safety, and insurance teams at Uber to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on regulatory matters, legislative strategies, compliance, and product designs.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply current law and regulations as applicable to Uber's current and future business model.
  • Lead internal Investigations in response to regulatory inquiries and investigations, and then formulate external reply.
  • Craft strategies to achieve ambitious regulatory and policy goals, and advocate publicly and in rulemaking proceedings before a regulatory body.

What You'll Need

  • No prior regulatory experience required.  Team is willing to train a junior attorney, but demonstrated experience advocating on behalf of clients is preferred.
  • 2+ years of legal experience at a mid- to large-sized law firm, government regulatory entity, or in-house corporate role.
  • Excellent business judgment and ability to analyze complex legal issues while considering risk.
  • Ability to multitask, manage cases, and carry out important projects with limited oversight.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills required -- strong writing, research, and negotiation skills necessary.
  • Willingness to learn, be a team player, and fun to work with!
  • Excited about Uber and our mission!
