About the Role
As a Senior Visual Designer on the Uber Eats team, you’ll help us ship well-crafted experiences with a high level of polish and consistency that will push the design envelope and delight eaters around the world. You’ll collaborate with design-oriented engineers, product managers and some of the world’s best designers and researchers in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment.
About Uber Eats Design
The Uber Eats design team works across all three sides of the Eats marketplace (restaurants, couriers, and eaters) to realize our mission of eating well effortless, everyday, for everyone. We combine thoughtful design with cutting edge machine learning to help people find food they’ll love. We embrace the challenge of solving complex logistical problems to create simple, beautiful delivery experiences. We work hand in glove with our restaurant partners, helping them achieve operational and culinary excellence. We reach eaters around the globe, expanding their idea of what food delivery can be, and we’re just getting started.
What you’ll do:
Own our Eats design system and evolve it to meet the growing needs of our design and engineering teams and the growing complexity of our product
Lead the creation of a design platform that will allow designers and engineers to execute faster and better
Be a leader in the visual design discipline on the Eats team and help the entire team level up their work.
Collaborate with product designers to iterate on UX flows and transform them into delightful UI designs
Partner with our engineering team to ensure design integrity.
Conceptualize product features and strategies that will push our product forward.
Work with our brand team to figure out how the Uber Eats brand manifests itself in our product.
What you’ll need
A portfolio full of unusually great work. You're a walking encyclopedia of microinteractions in use (on mobile, web, desktop, etc), and have nuanced views on how to make many of them even better.
Experience thinking and designing in terms of interactive experiences, not just static screens. Mastery of one or more motion design and prototyping tools.
Amazing attention to detail. You know when something needs to be one pixel to the left or a shade darker, and you follow through to make it right. You have a keen eye for iconography, typography, color, space.
A track record of shipping real product, and an ability to talk about lessons learned along the way. You’ve weathered release cycles and know what details matter at each stage, how to motivate engineers to get the fit and finish right, how to translate insights from user studies into meaningful action, and what’s most likely to go afoul at each stage.
Familiarity of platform conventions on iOS, Android, and web as well as an understanding of when to break them.
At Uber we don’t just accept difference—we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products and our community. Uber is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
