Uber ATG is developing high performance camera modules to meet the challenging requirements of its self driving car and truck products.
The Camera Hardware Lead will be intimately involved at all phases of the program, but ultimately owns the technical design and execution of the camera hardware. They will work with key cross-functional counterparts on software, product and program management, business development, systems engineering, supply chain, and safety to ensure all use cases and requirements are captured.
They are responsible for ensuring that what we are building meets the product requirements. At the start of a new product they drive investigations of the technical space to understand feasibility and estimate the efforts involved in achieving the desired results; especially key is understanding the tradeoffs and risks between multiple solutions to a new problem. As the product moves into the execution phase, they own the work planning and resource allocation (internal and external). As the product gets closer to delivery, they own testing their solutions to ensure they meet the product requirements and metrics. Finally, they must collaborate with internal supply chain teams, external vendors, and contract manufacturers to transition the design into production.
The Camera Hardware Lead will also be responsible for roadmapping the evolution of Uber ATG’s camera hardware, aligning internal software development strategies with state of the art technology advancements.
