About the Role

 

As part of the the mechanical integration team, the senior mechanical engineer’s role is to mechanically integrate UBER ATG self-driving technology into existing and future commercial vehicle platforms.

What You'll Do

 

  • Lead development of mechanical systems that integrate ATG hardware and technology into OEM vehicles
  • Manage and resolve technical issues between ATG content and OEM vehicle during development, prototype builds and production launch
  • Act as a point of contact with OEM, suppliers and other partners on mechanical integration topics
  • Engage ATG component design engineers and other internal experts as needed to implement design changes
  • Diagnose system interfaces and vehicle control issues
  • Coordinate prototype and production release testing and drive resolution of issues
  • Lead change control efforts to ensure compatibility between internal components and OE interfaces
  • Support product launches

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle, powersports, aerospace or related industry
  • Significant CAD design experience, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, and/or Creo
  • Strong technical depth in automotive or similar mechanical (structural, thermal, hydraulic, pneumatic) systems design, development, and testing
  • Knowledge in vehicle body, chassis or equivalent (steering, braking, actuation, etc.), and propulsion systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment under challenging timing constraints
  • Results oriented, experienced launching technical projects into series production
  • Experience working with suppliers and external partners
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel

 

Bonus Points

 

  • Graduate level education in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Two (2) or more years of experience at a startup company
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a vehicle related industry
  • Knowledge in automotive safety systems
  • Experience in structural and vibration analysis, and performance and durability testing
  • Design for six sigma
  • FMEA, fault tree analysis, and/or similar experience
  • Experience in quality management
