Driving at Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport (GIG)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Airport regulations

Uber has a location for our partner drivers with capacity for up to 300 cars. (see map below)

To ensure that all Uber drivers have a good experience, we have created some rules for using the pocket so that drivers can enter and leave with peace of mind. All Uber terms and conditions are valid locally and failure to comply with any of them may result in termination from the platform.

Entry permitted upon presentation of the Uber partner driver application with the message “IN THE QUEUE”. It is not permitted to leave the vehicle unattended at the location. Entry with a companion is not permitted. Entry with alcoholic beverages is not permitted. No people are permitted to enter on foot. The sale of products or services is not permitted on site. Maximum length of stay: 5 hours.

Prejudice, harassment, fights or any other form of aggression are not permitted and may result in an invitation to leave the site and even deactivation of the platform.

Pickups at the airport

It’s simple to receive passenger trips leaving the airport!

To facilitate meetings between driver-partners and their passengers at Galeão Airport, 4 meeting places were defined. (see map below)

See below where you will find passengers in each of the terminals.

Travel from Terminal 1

If you receive a ride from Terminal 1, you will need to go to the terminal and look for an Uber sign at gate B.

Once you arrive at the location, look for your passenger and, if necessary, text or call them.

Terminal 2 Travel

If you receive a trip from Terminal 2, you must go to the terminal’s boarding area via the outer lane (left) and look for an Uber sign between gates B and C.

Once you arrive at the location, look for your passenger and, if necessary, text or call them.

UAC Travel - Administrative Building & Linx Hotel Trips

If you receive a trip from UAC, you must go to the administrative building and look for an Uber sign.

When you arrive at the location, look for your passenger and, if necessary, send a text message or call.

If you receive a trip from the Linx Hotel, you must go to the hotel reception and look for an Uber sign.

Once you arrive at the location, look for your passenger and if necessary send a text message or call.
