An inclusive community
Through our joint efforts with cities and safety experts and by working together, we’re helping to create an inclusive community, where everyone feels welcome.
Peace of mind, wherever you go
Safety is designed into the experience. So you feel comfortable driving at night. So you can tell loved ones where you’re going. And so you know you have someone to turn to if anything happens.*
Safety Toolkit

CPF/National ID check
If a user wants to pay for his trips only in cash, he needs to type his National ID number (CPF) and date of birth to get access to the app. This information is matched with the federal government data to confirm the user's ID.
Incident prevention technology
Uber has adopted a technology to identify risks based on real-time data of millions of trips taken through the app. The tool can block trips considered potentially risky, unless the user provides additional identification information.
On some trips, your passengers will tell you a unique 4-digit code. You will only be able to start the journey after entering it. This helps you to confirm that the right passenger is getting into your car.
Inappropriate message detection
Messages sent thought the app that may be considered offensive or threaten the integrity of a person will be submitted to a process where the original account can be permanently disabling.
Anonymous communications
We use technology to help keep your phone number private, so neither drivers nor riders will see each other’s numbers when communicating through the Uber app.
GPS tracking
All Uber rides are tracked from start to finish, so there’s a record of your trip if something happens.
Follow my ride
Friends and family can follow your route and will know as soon as you arrive.
‘Call the police’ button
This feature provides an option to call the police directly in situations of risk or emergency. The app will display your current location when you push the button, so you can share it with the local authorities who are responsible for the 190 number.
Using sensors and GPS data, RideCheck can help detect if a trip goes unusually off-course or a possible crash has occurred. If we notice such events, we’ll check on you and offer tools to get help.
24/7 incident support
Uber customer associates trained in incident response are available around the clock.
2-way ratings
Your feedback matters. Low-rated trips are logged, and users may be removed to protect the Uber community.

Audio recording**

U-Selfie: photo of new users

The U-Selfie takes place before requesting the first trip and the photos are registered on Uber's servers and can be shared with public security authorities, following legal processes, in the event of security incidents.
Driving Hour Limits
To reduce fatigue risk, you will be automatically disconnected from the Uber driver app after driving for the maximum allowable hours. After you have taken your break, your driving time will reset and you’ll be able to go back online to receive new ride requests.
