Working at Uber in Cairo

Cairo is one of the most beautiful, lively cities of the Middle East and North Africa, and our office is located at the heart of the metropolis, near the iconic Tahrir Square and Egyptian Museum. As the second largest city for Uber in EMEA, Cairo is a very important market for Uber. The fertile ground and opportunistic market allows for experimentation of new products and testing of big bold bets, leading to the launch of global-firsts like UberBus and the BusLite app.

If you want to have an impact on the every-day movement of Cairo and being part of the solution to macroeconomic challenges, the Cairo office is the place to be!

Teams in Cairo

  • Business Development

The Business Development team in Egypt is tasked with forging large-scale commercial partnerships that help feed into the bottom line of the business. The team is responsible for creating strategic partnerships and maintaining high-value external relationships.

  • Operations

We are responsible for growing and optimizing the supply-side of the marketplace. We work to provide riders with safe, high-quality rides in less than 5 minutes, anywhere, at anytime, in a car, Scooter and/or Bus. We also support new product launches, expansions and stunts throughout the country, all year long. Cairo is home to the Road to One Billion (#R21B) theme for 2019 - running Uber’s first High Capacity Vehicles pilot. Previously an incubator to Low Cost as well, with the introduction of UberMoto for the first time in MEA.

  • Communications

We work together with all company functions to create a holistic narrative to build Uber’s brand image and maintain a strong, positive corporate reputation among the public, press, and key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Marketing

The Marketing team tells the Uber brand story to both of our customers; riders and drivers. From new product launches, new riders first-trips, to engagement initiatives across multiple platforms; we develop communication across social media, ATL, on-ground, and CRM.

  • Legal

The Legal team in Egypt works to support business development on matters ranging from contractual and consumer law to mobility legislation and food delivery.

  • Policy

As ridesharing is a fairly new industry/concept in Egypt, the Policy team is tasked with ensuring that all relevant government and parliament stakeholders, in addition to the opinion leaders, understand how the ridesharing industry works. This will then help enable a more constructive approach to shaping the regulatory landscape of the ridesharing Industry in Egypt, in order to ultimately reach a state where we have a set of business conducive and forward-looking ridesharing laws and regulations in Egypt.

  • Community Operations

The Community Operations (CommOps) team is the team in charge of ensuring that our community of Riders and Drivers face seamless experiences on our platform. We are the eyes and ears of Uber; we listen to our community when they talk to us, help to resolve their issues, and use this feedback to constantly improve services and experiences.
