When Uber launched in DC just 5 years ago, we never could have imagined how far we’ve come. The only way we could imagine celebrating this milestone is by saying thanks to you–our riders and driver-partners.
Celebrations began last Thursday when we surprised over 100 of our #UberAllStar nominees at our office. Thanks to a few local friends—including the Washington Wizards, Redskins, and The Cookie Jar—we were able to give away some incredible gifts. See below for few stories that highlight why you’ve nominated these drivers as your all-star team.
On Friday, we hopped in uberPOOLs to give riders, and 100+ more drivers, their own anniversary parties. Each rider that matched with a team member received prizes of their own, including Uber gift cards to use on their next trip.
Thanks to all of you, the Uber community here in DC is stronger than ever. We can’t wait to see what the next 5+ years have in store!
Meet Ahmed
We loved surprising some of DC’s #UberAllStar driver-partners and hearing about how they are going above and beyond to give their riders a 5-star experience. For example, Ahmed manages a coffee shop and drives sporadically throughout the day. Each morning, he brings a fresh coffee on his first trip to give to a lucky rider.
Meet Abraham
Helping a rider get from point A to point B sometimes goes beyond the trip experience itself. #UberAllStar Abraham recently went above and beyond for a rider who recently left their suitcase in his car after a trip to the airport. He not only brought the bag back to the airport but also alerted the airline and waited with the bag until his rider came to collect it.
Meet Heather
There’s nothing we appreciate more than a good side hustle. #UberAllStar Heather loves the flexibility of driving for Uber, and provides rides while also working her full-time job. Her riders are glad to have her on the road, too – one named her “the most exceptional Uber driver I have ever experienced.”
Meet Kenneth
Driving for Uber allows many of our #UberAllStars to spend more time with the people who matter most – their families. When we surprised full time driver Kenneth at our office, he was on his way to pick up his daughter for a day of fun.
