Truck driver and singer Tony Justice captures life on the road

Two things move Tony Justice: country music and hauling freight. From back routes to superhighways, he’s become a voice for truck drivers everywhere. Independence and hard work. Family and home.

Listening to his music, you quickly realize that even when he’s not behind the wheel, Tony is never far from the road. Songs like “Stars, Stripes, and White Lines” and “Brothers of the Highway” prove that driving isn’t his job, it’s his calling. That’s why for so many, Tony’s music rings true.

“It’s what my daddy did. It’s what I do.”

Both trucking and music are equal parts of the Justice family tradition. Tony’s father and five uncles were truck drivers, so he grew up around big rigs. “I know about trucks. I grew up riding in the truck with my dad,” Tony said. Weekends for him included helping to maintain his dad’s three trucks. Like so many children of truck drivers, he hoped one day following in his father’s footsteps and taking to the open road.

Tony inherited his musical side from his mother. She enlisted Tony in her own band when he was just seven years old. At age 21, Tony launched his professional music career, and a few years later, starting trucking full time. “I’m the most blessed guy in the world. I get to live two childhood dreams,” Tony said. “I get to drive trucks and make music.”

“There’s inspiration around every corner.”

While truck driving is a popular theme in country music, Tony’s decades of experience gives his music an authenticity that no outsider can match. “I think there’s a lot better singers and songwriters than me,” Tony said. “But at the end of the day, when all these truckers hear my music, they know I’m one of them.”

Because Tony embodies so much of what it means to be a trucker, he is an in-demand performer around the country. As a matter of fact, Uber Freight has sponsored free Tony Justice concerts at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky and the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas.

Just like he does with his trucking career, Tony likes to keep his independence as an artist, so he started his own recording label. And going his own way as a musician is paying off. Tony has sold over 75,000 albums in his career and racked up more than 1 million plays on Spotify and his YouTube channel.
