Moving Texarkana forward

September 26, 2017 / Texas

We’ve been working to provide affordable, reliable transportation to everyone, and starting Tuesday, September 26, Uber will be available in more Texas cities than ever before. Riders in Texarkana will be able to open their Uber app and request a ride, and drivers will be able to log on and accept trip requests.

Along with the lawmakers in the Texas Capitol who helped implement the statewide ridesharing regulations that paved the way for this launch, we’d like to thank State Representative Gary VanDeaver for his hard work to help get Uber up and running in Texarkana.

We look forward to working with local officials and the Texarkana community to increase access to flexible earnings opportunities and safe, reliable transportation options throughout the region. In the coming months, Uber will expand to even more cities across Texas.

Share Uber in Texarkana

Have friends and family in the new service area who’ve never used Uber? Share your referral code to give them a free first ride. Plus, after they take their first ride, you’ll get $10 off your next ride. Win-win!

How it works:

  • Open the Uber app
  • Tap the menu button in the upper-left corner, then tap ‘Free Rides’
  • Tap ‘Send Invites’ and add as many friends as you’d like to share with, then tap ‘Invite Friends.’ Send the autopopulated SMS message
  • Once your friend taps on the URL in the SMS, the promo will be applied to their account
  • After your friend takes his or her first trip, $10 will be added to your account for your next ride

Note: In the new service area, riders and drivers are learning how the Uber app works, so wait times may be longer than usual.
