This week, we’re excited to celebrate one year of moving San Antonio – it’s been an incredible year! We’ve delivered ice cream by riverboat, partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Fiesta to connect thousands of people to a safe ride home, coordinated kitten playdates with San Antonio Pets Alive, and collected more than 1,000 lbs of school supplies for students in need – all at the tap of a button!
Expanding access to reliable rides all across San Antonio
San Antonio’s support of Uber has been incredible. From Downtown to Helotes, Harlandale to Hollywood Park, and everywhere in between, residents and visitors rely on Uber to move them throughout the day and night.
Meet local Uber Driver-Partners
Our driver-partners—who work tirelessly to provide reliable, five-star service at all hours of the day and night—are the heart and soul of Uber San Antonio, and they’re the reason we’ve come this far in just one year.
Liz signed up to drive with Uber when she lived in California. She enjoyed driving so much that when she moved to San Antonio she chose to keep driving with Uber. Liz runs her own greeting card business in addition to driving on the Uber platform. She enjoys the flexibility to pursue her small business and earn money on her own schedule, and it shows – Liz has nearly four thousand lifetime trips!
Carlos, born and raised in San Antonio, joined the United States Marines Corps immediately after high school. After his time in the service, Carlos worked in retail for 30 years to support his four kids. In December 2015, Carlos left his retail job and signed up to drive on the Uber platform. Carlos loves that he can provide safe rides home to people who have been drinking as well as elderly folks. In addition to driving, Carlos also coaches new drivers about how and where to drive to earn the most money.
Paul started driving with Uber in January. His favorite parts of driving are engaging with riders, getting to meet new people, and exploring new parts of the city. He tells us, “I drive for my son who inspires me every day. My son is autistic and every day is a new day to fit a new puzzle piece in his world. To hear my son ask to go to Disneyland is totally different from a child who doesn’t have a disability. When I drive, I drive for him and to reach that goal to someday take him on a trip to Disney. I work late night and early morning while he sleeps cozy in his bed.” Paul is glad that Uber allows him to prioritize his family goals and build a schedule that works for him.
Rhett is a father of six and an entrepreneur who developed a topical skin treatment that is sold in pharmacies and grocery stores across the country. Driving with Uber allows him to pursue his business and help with his growing family. Rhett moved to San Antonio a few years ago and has been driving with Uber from the beginning. In addition to everyday driving, he enjoys delighting people across San Antonio during special promotions like UberDOUGHNUTS.
We can’t thank the community, riders and driver-partners enough for their tremendous support throughout the year. We are proud of what we have accomplished together over the last year, and the best is yet to come.
Uber on, San Antonio!
