Racing enthusiasts are in for a real treat this month with the 46th edition of Super DIRT Week. Held at the Oswego Speedway, this 5-day event oversees the transformation of the venue from “Steel Palace” to “Clay Palace,” as nearly 10,000 cubic yards of clay encase the oval track. Super DIRT Week is a fury of fast cars and incredible races as participants compete for first place and glory. Be sure to check the website to secure your tickets and passes.

The Buffalo Sabres face the Montreal Canadiens this month on the ice. It’s thrilling enough to watch your favorite team play from the comfort of your own home, but going to the game in person is next-level excitement. Gather the whole family to watch your favorite team play live at the premium sports stadium, KeyBank Center, on the first week of October. Plan ahead and get those tickets ASAP before they’re sold out.

If you’re a fan of college ball, you’re in luck. The Syracuse Orange is playing 2 home games this month, against Pittsburgh and Clemson, at the Carrier Dome. Come out to watch your team thrive on the field in a family-friendly event that’s sure to enthuse even the youngest of fans in your household. Both games are ticketed, so secure your passes ahead of time.

The Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF) is your opportunity to see ground-breaking regional reels and promote local talent, while also getting to know some of the cutting-edge cinema from across the nation and around the world. This 2017 BIFF lineup includes Charlie v. Goliath, Walking David, Mermaids, Train Driver’s Diary, Woman on Fire, and the cult hit Endless Poetry. BIFF also hosts screenings of short films and discussions and roundtables on numerous relevant topics, ranging from Women in Film, where female filmmakers touch upon their experience, to Poetics of the Moving Image, centered on the craft of filmmaking.

Just think–an entire evening devoted to chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. The third annual Choctoberfest is a fundraising initiative, the proceeds of which go to aiding homeless families in the community. Attendees can sample all-you-can-eat chocolate, participate in a basket auction, play games like Jenga and foosball, and buy raffles.

The Rochester Bloody Mary Fest is an afternoon of fun as you watch 10 restaurants in the Rochester area compete in 3 categories: Rochester’s Best Bloody Mary, Best Garnished Bloody Mary, and Most Creative Bloody Mary. Best of all? You get to be the judge. The festival also includes samples from locally-sourced vendors, music entertainment by a DJ, and games.

Football season started in September, and it’s well underway. Fans of the Buffalo Bills can catch away games in sports bars or from home, but home games are an opportunity for a family outing with all the bells and whistles down at the New Era Field. Home games this month are against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders. Secure your tickets ahead of time to ensure a hassle-free game day.

Country music fans are in for a delightful surprise this month. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will make a stop in Buffalo as part of their Soul2Soul World Tour. This is the first time the country duo has toured together in 10 years, and so far, the tour is a smash hit. Enjoy over 2 hours of past hits as well as tracks from their upcoming record performed as solos and duets. You’ll have to race to get your tickets because the Soul2Soul concert has sold out in every venue they’ve played at so far this year.
