Ride Like a Pro

January 19, 2016 / New Orleans

When it comes to ensuring a high-quality experience for both riders and drivers with Uber, we’re always shooting for the stars — 5, to be exact. We take your feedback seriously, and so do driver-partners. It helps correct for issues big and small, and maintain a high level of service that sets the Uber experience apart.

But a trip with Uber should be a good experience for everyone. That’s why drivers have the opportunity to rate riders using the same 5-star scale. But don’t worry: by following a few simple tips we put together using feedback from Uber driver-partners, you can ride like a pro in 2016 — with a 5-star rating to match.

Pro Tips for a Stellar Rider Rating

Pin It To Win It

Taking a few seconds to make sure your pin is dropped in the right place — or better yet, entering your pickup address — can save time and headaches. If you don’t know your exact pickup address, double check the pin is on the blue dot by pressing the little bullseye button located on the bottom right corner of your screen. Once you request, please stay in the same location that you requested to ensure a smooth pickup.

*Pro Tip: Entering your destination ahead of time makes everyone’s life easier. Drivers can’t see your destination before accepting a request.

Please Don’t Pile In

Most cars with Uber can only fit 4 riders. If you’re in doubt about how many people your ride can fit, use this formula: number of seatbelts = number of riders.

*Pro Tip: Looking to transport a small army? Upgrade to our uberXL or UberSUV options, which can fit up to 6 riders.

Follow The (Uber) Golden Rule

The same rules from grade school apply. Please treat your driver (and their car) with care. Whether it’s being careful when closing the car door to leaving the greasy pizza or open container out of the car, being respectful of their car as their own personal property will make everyone happy.

*Pro Tip: Even if you needed to be at your location, like, yesterday, please don’t encourage your driver to break traffic laws like illegal u-turns. They’re there for everyone’s safety.

Time is Money

Driver-partners do everything they can to pick you up in under 10 minutes. Please try to return the favor by being ready to hop in your Uber when it arrives.

*Pro Tip: You can let your driver know you’ll be a few minutes late by calling or texting them using Uber’s in-app feature.

While this isn’t intended to be an exhaustive list of everything you can to do to ride like a pro in 2016, following will help you start the New Year off on a high note, with a stellar rider rating to match.
