1. Root, root, root for the Miami Marlins

The thrill of a major league baseball game can’t be underestimated, but don’t take our word for it. 2. Enjoy Slava’s SNOWSHOW

This theatrical spectacle is a delightful, dreamy, and quite strange performance that captivates all ages and rekindles the joy of childhood in even the most curmudgeonly adult. The playful show features all manner of clowns, but these aren’t of your run-of-the-mill, red-nosed, big-shoe variety. These hauntingly beautiful and rather odd clowns and their delightful act will give you a whole new appreciation for the art of clowning around.

3. See Bill Maher Live

Funnyman Bill Maher—comedian, writer, actor, producer, and host of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher–will bring his intelligent, biting stand-up act to Miami on August 5 and 6. Enjoy a night of hilarious political commentary beachside as Maher dishes up juicy, delightful material on all the usual suspects in Washington.

4. Catch the Kidz Bop “Best Time Ever” Tour

Grab your favorite kid or kids and hit the Fillmore for a night of live music from beloved hit-makers Kidz Bop. Sung by kids for kids, you and the brood will enjoy lively renditions of hits like “That’s What I Like,” “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” and “Still Got Time,” among other favorites. 5. Rock Out With Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses puts on a heck of a live show, and they’re bringing it to Miami in August. Axl Rose is a ferocious, energetic frontman, and his crew backs him up with killer beats, bass lines, and guitar solos. Order your tickets now, and get your dancin’ shoes and devil horns ready for a great night of pure, frenzied rock ‘n’ roll. After the show, head out the northeast exit to the Uber Zone in Lot 14 to catch a ride home.

6. Cheer Your Team at a Miami Dolphins Game

If football makes you happy, a Miami Dolphins game will put you on Cloud 9. In August, the Dolphins’ preseason finds them playing the Falcons and the Ravens on their Miami home turf, and you won’t want to miss the palpable excitement of the crowd going wild as the ball travels the field. If you’ve never attended an NFL game, it’s time to see what you’re missing.

7. Rock the Wynwood Art Walk Block Party

One of the most popular arts events in Miami, the Wynwood Art Walk Block Party takes place on the second Saturday of the month and features art openings galore, along with gourmet food trucks and live music. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this artsy area of rehabilitated warehouses, factories and other historical buildings that now house galleries, studios, performance spaces, and restaurants.

9. Catch Mary J Blige’s “Strength of a Woman” Tour

R&B darling Mary J. Blige is bringing her hip-hop-inspired brand of soul to Miami in August. Her Strength of a Woman Tour is eliciting amens and hallelujahs from audiences all over the country, and you can see her perform live at the Fillmore on August 22. Opening the show is Chicago’s Lalah Hathaway, whose jazz, R&B, and gospel influences and powerful vocal stylings make her performances legendary.

10. Hear Ed Sheeran in Concert

Ed Sheeran returns to AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami this August to celebrate his third studio album, which includes hit singles “Castles on the Hill” and “Shape of You.” Warming up the stage for Sheeran will be Grammy-nominated James Blunt, whose soft-rock sound is punctuated by digital beats and indelibly influenced by electronica.
