Why did you join Uber back in 2017 and why do you stay to this day?
“I’m passionate about both people and challenges. Joining Uber in 2017 allowed me to combine both of these interests and dedicate my time to them daily. I already knew Uber as a customer, but learning more about it from the inside was game-changing. From the beginning, I felt that I was a part of a major global shift in how the world moves for the better and helping reimagine this feat still drives me to this day.
Tell us about your career growth at Uber. How have you driven your own growth and how has Uber supported you in each new role?
“Every day at Uber is a growth opportunity. Learning and development should be integrated into your daily role, which will organically lead you to your next challenge. Since my first day, I was determined to grow, not only through promotions but also as a person and a professional, soaking up the knowledge from my colleagues at every point. With that clarity, I never stopped asking for more opportunities and sought out mentors to help guide and support me every step of the way. Most of my growth opportunities happened on the job, always going above and beyond my role responsibilities and what was required, keeping my curiosity unwavering, and working on my personal development skills based on the honest, requested feedback that I received along the way.”
Any advice for other women who aspire to be business leaders?
“Be true, kind, and honest with yourself. Never try to be someone else. Your true power comes from authenticity. Spend time to deeply get to know your strengths and uncover weaknesses, but don’t let them define you. Use these discoveries as a starting point for growth. Sometimes things will get hard, but trust that you will get stronger and grow more after challenges than by not taking any risks at all.”
What is the most exciting part of your role today?
“As part of the Customer Support team, I am given the opportunity to hear first-hand feedback from our earners across South America. My team is the main connection to Uber’s customers, which allows us to provide an unparalleled amount of insights back to the company to truly influence change at all levels. Our cross-functional partnerships truly support Uber’s constant development into becoming even more customer-centric. We are trip-obsessed. We are the face of Uber to our community and providing them with the best possible support drives me every day.”
How does your work impact Brazil but also Uber, globally?
“Greenlight Hubs have been supporting Uber’s growth since their conceptualization, serving not only as onboarding partners for our earners but also quickly solving any sort of doubt or issues that our earners face on the spot. We are the local presence and receive a vast amount of both positive and negative information and feedback daily. By providing this feedback to other areas across Uber, we kick off the process of solving global platform issues at the root. This deep understanding of our earners and platform makes our Greenlight teams an amazing asset for Uber.”
What does your day-to-day look like?
“Each day provides new and unique challenges to tackle, and no two days look alike, which to me, is extremely motivating. In my current role, I get the chance to interact with different people from different areas across South America, sharing insights that come from my team, and working together on assignments that contribute to our business growth. I also spend part of my time supporting my team, ensuring that I remove roadblocks, bringing business updates, supporting their career development, and making sure that they have everything they need to maintain the high-quality level of support that we give to our earners on a daily basis.”
What has been your favorite or most impactful project you have worked on at Uber?
“Over the last 6 years, I’ve had the chance to participate in many important projects at varying scales, but one that was particularly challenging and impactful was working through COVID. When we first started to see the signals of COVID, I, along with my team, had to create an execution plan from scratch deciding how in-person support would look like in a now remote environment. Our main focus was on our team and earners’ safety, while also ensuring that our earners were supported in such challenging and uncertain times. We managed to change all of our processes in an extremely short period of time, achieving our goals to help new drivers get on the road for the first time, build engagement with the platform over time, and continue serving as a hub for drivers in cities across South America.”
