Festival season in Indio
Festival season is almost here, which means thousands of music fans will flock to Indio to see their favorite artists at Coachella and Stagecoach. They’ll be looking to Uber to request rides to and from the events, and historically these weekends have been the biggest weekends of the year in Indio in terms of trip requests.
As the official ride of Coachella and Stagecoach, we’re giving you info that can help you have a successful few weekends on the road in Indio.
Picking up and dropping off
We’ve worked with Coachella and the Indio Police Department to create a dedicated Uber pickup/dropoff zone to help make getting riders to and from the festival as seamless as possible.
As the official ride of Coachella, this year, drivers will have access to an even larger Uber Zone than in years past. That means more drivers will be able to access the lot, in an effort to minimize street congestion.
The Uber Zone is located just outside the festival gates at the corner of 49th Ave and Monroe St in Indio. You can enter the Uber Zone by taking southbound Jackson St to westbound 50th St to northbound Monroe St, then taking a left into the Zone right before 49th St. As you bring riders to and from the festival, you can see signs that will point you in the right direction.
Most riders tend to look for rides from the festival once it wraps up each night between 10:30pm and 2:30am. The Uber Zone will open nightly at 8:30pm. You can wait for Coachella requests in the Uber zone during those hours.
Once in the Uber Zone, drivers will be entered into a queue and directed into designated lanes based on vehicle type. You can then follow these steps to get matched with a rider:
- Continue pulling forward in your designated lane and moving ahead in the queue until parking staff directs a rider to your vehicle
- Your rider will then provide you with a unique, 6-digit pin code, which you can enter into your Driver app by tapping “Enter code” in the top-left corner
- After entering the code, start your trip
- Exit the lot by making a right onto Monroe St. Proceed southbound half a mile
- Turn left onto Avenue 50 and continue onto your rider’s destination.
While in the Zone, law enforcement recommends that you remain in your vehicle and follow the directions of parking staff to ensure safety and efficiency. Unoccupied vehicles are subject to tow by law enforcement.
We encourage you to use the Uber Zone for both pickups and dropoffs. Dropping off riders outside of the Uber Zone may result in the receipt of a citation from law enforcement. Please remember that Uber cannot pay for any citations that drivers may incur.
Free WiFi is available in the Uber Zone for a smoother pickup and dropoff experience. In the event that your cell service is weaker than usual, you can go into your phone’s settings and join the Uber Partner Wifi netform to improve your connectivity.
When navigating to the Zone, we recommend using the Uber Driver App navigation for the most up-to-date road closure and routing information.
