Austin Pride 2017: 5 places to party and enjoy the parade

Austin is one of the most diverse cities in Texas, and the perfect place to celebrate LGBTQ Pride week. Austin’s official Pride Week is the largest annual LGBTQ event in Central Texas, dedicated to fundraising and advocacy, and we are proud to be the Official Ride of Austin Pride. The events will take place August 18th through the 26th—here are some of the activities you can enjoy.

What to do in Austin for PRIDE

1. Fruit Loop Bar Crawl

This event will be an exciting evening of bar hopping. Kick back and enjoy some cold drinks at the bars that are sponsoring Austin PRIDE week. Bars will include BT2, Iron Bear, Highland, Rain on 4th & Sellers, and OCH. There will be prizes at each location provided by the official Austin PRIDE team. Each bar will have free raffle tickets for every guest, with no purchase necessary. Prizes will include tickets to the WERK Fashion Show, VIP Festival and Parade tickets, and more. Raffle tickets will be drawn throughout the evening.

2. Bobby & Topher’s Big Gay Brunch at The Rattle Inn

A full brunch buffet will be catered from Trudy’s Tex-Mex. Add a $2 mimosa or a $14 carafe to get the party started for the fun-filled week. Sabel Scities and CupCake will be hosting the meal. After brunch, head up to the rooftop for a party overlooking the city of Austin. Music will be provided by DJ Tony Castro Jr. to get your body moving. You’ll be able to purchase official Austin PRIDE t-shirts, and get chances to win fabulous prizes. Prizes will include VIP passes to the Festival, Parade, and WERK Fashion Show.

3. WERK Fashion Show at ACL LIVE

You won’t want to miss the 5th Annual WERK Fashion Show. Bianca Del Rio and Coco Peru will be hosting the event. The show will feature designers from the show “Project Runway.” This year the WERK Fashion Show will feature special acts by RuPaul Drag Racers Shangela, Raja, and Raven. Other special acts will perform throughout the evening. Come be inspired by ideas to kick up your wardrobe and make an impression wherever you go. The Austin LGBTQ Community Center will benefit from the proceeds.

4. Pride Festival at Fiesta Gardens

There will be two stages at the festival with shows by a talented lineup of musicians and artists. The Festival will feature games and activities for all ages. There will be food, drinks, inflatables, photo booths, face painting, and more. A Family Zone will be available for the younger visitors. Over 140 vendor booths will be part of the festival, featuring local businesses and non-profits that serve the Austin LGBTQ community.

5. Pride Parade in Downtown Austin

This will be the highlight of Austin PRIDE Week. You’ll see over 120 entries, with parade floats, special live shows, and much more. This year’s parade will be bigger and better than ever before. The parade will feature two emcee stages, with one on Congress Ave. at the Paramount and one on the rooftop of Rain on 4th.

When: Sat, September 30, 8pm – 10pm
Where: The parade starts from the Capitol and proceeds to Republic Square Park
