In-app tips on Uber
Tipping is an easy way to say thanks. Riders and Uber Eats customers have the option to tip right from the app after each trip or delivery.
How it works
Easy and convenient
To ensure a smooth, uninterrupted ride, you can tip drivers up to 30 days after your trip at a time when it’s convenient for you.
Zero service fees
Tips go directly to drivers; Uber doesn’t charge service fees on tips.
Tipping is associated with your trip, not your name.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to tip?
Tipping is optional. You are free to add a tip, and drivers are free to accept tips.
- How do I leave my driver a tip?
The easiest way to tip your driver is through the app. At the end of your trip, you’ll be prompted to rate your driver. Once you provide a rating, you’ll be given the option to add a tip. Giving cash directly to your driver is also an option.
- Why can't I see an option to add a tip?
You may need to update your app to enable tipping. Additionally, some drivers may opt to not accept tips through the app. Or you might be in a region where in-app tipping isn't available yet. You can always tip your driver in cash if you’d like.
- How much of my tip goes to the driver?
All of it. Uber takes zero fees on tips.
- Can I use a gift card or Uber Cash to tip my driver?
Uber Cash and gift cards will work for tips. However, promotions can’t be used to tip your driver.
- How can I tip for past trips?
After a trip has ended, you have 30 days to add a tip in the app, on riders.uber.com, or from your emailed trip receipt.
- How does tipping work when using Split Fare?
The rider who originally requested the trip will be able to select the tip amount for a trip. If the original requester adds a tip, it won’t be split with the other passengers.
