Get a license in Australia
State regulations in Victoria require rideshare drivers to hold a special type of licence called a driver accreditation, issued by Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV), formerly the Taxi Services Commission (TSC). Additionally, you will need to register the vehicle you intend to drive as a commercial passenger vehicle.

1. Get a driver accreditation (DA)
You’ll need to get a driver accreditation through CPVV. CPVV may require applicants to undergo a medical assessment as part of the application process.
2. Pass a vehicle inspection and get a sticker
CPVV requires that all ridesharing driver-partners are ‘driving a safe vehicle’. For the safety of drivers and riders, all driver partners need to pass a vehicle inspection before you can start driving using the Uber app in Victoria. To obtain this, you can either book with Redbook Inspect, who provide a CPVV-approved inspection process at three locations (Tullamarine, Port Melbourne & Dandenong), or you can book an inspection at any Licensed Vehicle Tester in Victoria to obtain a Roadworthy Certificate. 3. Register your vehicle as a commercial passenger vehicle
CPVV also requires all driver-partners to register every vehicle they intend to drive on the Uber platform as a commercial passenger vehicle. The application process includes filling out a form and paying a fee.
How to upload your Driver Accreditation
Received your driver accreditation or driver accreditation approval email from Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV)? Follow these steps to upload it to your Uber profile.
What to upload
As evidence of a current Victorian driver accreditation, Uber currently accepts either the driver accreditation certificate (left) or card (right).
Until your certificate or card arrives, Uber will accept your driver accreditation approval email for up to 30 days.
Important: Make sure you upload a copy of the driver accreditation certificate once it arrives, as your driver accreditation approval email will only be accepted in place of a copy of your driver accreditation certificate for a period of 30 days from the time you received the driver accreditation approval email.

New driver-partners
If you're new to Uber, make sure you've created a new driver-partner profile.
Then, upload your Driver Accreditation via this page.
Current driver-partners
If you're a current driver-partner with an active profile, upload your Driver Accreditation in one of two ways:
- Your document dashboard
- The Uber Driver app: Account > Documents > Driver Accreditation

Drivers must display either a CPV sign or a sign identifying Uber on their vehicle. Order an Uber sticker via this website, but while you wait for it to arrive, you may opt to print a copy of the Victorian commercial passenger vehicle signage here as your sticker.
The requirements may vary from city to city.
Transport Licence Code
To comply with new regulations and drive using the Uber driver app, you will be required to get a Passenger Transport Licence Code added to your NSW driver’s licence.

If you’re happy for Uber to submit a PTLC application to the RMS on your behalf along with a copy of your driver’s licence, simply complete the online form.

Fill out the online form to get started. You will need to select Booked services only. You’ll then be prompted to do a medical self-assessment consisting of 10 questions. Based on your responses, you may be required to visit a doctor to complete a medical check.
To apply, there is a fee and processing takes up to 3 weeks on average. You will need to apply directly through CPVV.

As part of the sign-up process, you need to demonstrate that you have a right to work in Australia. A VEVO check will be conducted based on the primary identity document you provide to Uber during the sign up process.
If you hold one of the following documents, a VEVO check will not need to be conducted.
- Australian Passport
- Australian Birth Certificate
- Australian Citizenship Certificate
If you do not hold one of the above documents, a VEVO check will be conducted. You will need to provide one of the following documents in order for this check to be completed:
- Immigration card
- International passport
- Refugee Passport
If you have multiple passports that are not Australian or New Zealand, you will need to provide the document you used to gain entry in to Australia.
Please do not provide a copy of your VISA or VEVO check as Uber will receive your results directly from National Crime Check.

- Commercial Passenger Vehicle Registration
CPVV requires all driver-partners to register every vehicle they intend to drive using the Uber Driver App as commercial passenger vehicles.
If you are the owner of the vehicle you intend to use while driving using the Uber App fill out the online application link below to get started. You will be required to pay CPVV a $55.10 application fee to submit your registration and you will need to pay via credit card.
If you intend to rent a vehicle from the Uber Marketplace you will not be required to apply as this is provided by the Vehicle Solutions Provider.
To apply, you’ll need:
- Your vehicle details
- Your Victorian driver accreditation number OR;
- A copy of your Australian driver licence and passport (current, expired within last two years but not cancelled)
Once you’ve registered your vehicle as a commercial passenger vehicle, please upload a copy of the registration receipt to your Uber profile.
- ABN 和 GST 登记
Driver-partners must be GST registered and provide an Australian Business Number (ABN) in order to access the Uber app. If you haven’t already, you can register for GST via the Australian Tax Office (ATO) website. Alternatively, you can do this through services like AirTax, which are free of charge.
You can provide your ABN details and confirm that you are registered for GST in the ‘Invoice Settings’ section of your Partner Dashboard. Scroll down to fill in the field marked ‘Australian Business Number (ABN)’, Company/Legal name and confirm that you are registered for GST.

All vehicles must have a 5-Star ANCAP rating or fall under our vehicle exemption policy to qualify for the Uber platform. Vehicles that do not meet our requirements will not be eligible to receive trip requests, and may be deleted from your account.

Out of State Driving History
An out of state driving history is required if you have lived interstate and have not held a full New South Wales license for twelve months (please note that some state governments will charge a fee for requesting an interstate driving history).
Uber requires:
- The first issue date of your Australian drivers licence; and
- Previous suspensions, DUI’s or other traffic offences

You can request a ‘Traffic History’ online. This will show the last time your licence was renewed, as well as any penalties or disqualifications.
Renewed your QLD licence in the last 12 months?
Uber will need to determine when you were first issued your licence. There are two ways to do this:
- Either request a ‘Licence History' below; or
- Provide a photograph of your Queensland licence.

- Licence First Issue Date
For the first issue date of their licence you can call 13 11 56 to request the results, which will be emailed to you shortly.
Alternatively, you can take a photo of both sides of your driver licence to evidence the first issue date.
- Record of Traffic Infringement Notice
For disqualifications and penalties, you must download and fill out the 'Record of Traffic Infringement Notices' form.
