Driving at Adelaide Airport (ADL)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Rules and regulations

ADL regulations for Uber driver-partners

In order to access the designated Rideshare Area at the Adelaide Airport, the Airport requires driver-partners to have an Access Card.

After Adelaide Airport has notified Uber that your Access Card is active and has the required minimum balance, Uber will notify you that you can receive Airport trip requests.

See the “Airport Fees and Charges” section below for more information about fees and charges associated with the Access Card.

Note: If you are a Taxi driver, are able to use your Airport Access card to gain entry into the Rideshare pickup area. You will need to contact the Airport to activate this feature on your card. Either call Adelaide Airport on 08 8308 9211 or email drivers@adelaideairport.com.au

Pickups at ADL

To receive trip requests from Adelaide Airport, driver-partners must wait in the Ground Transport Remote Hub on Sir Hubert Wilkins Rd (designated holding area).

Step 1: Join the queue

Once you enter the Ground Transport Remote Hub, you will be placed into a virtual queue. The Uber Driver app will show your place in the queue, within a range of 10 cars. When you reach the front of the queue, you’ll receive the next trip request.

NOTE: The Ground Transport Remote Hub is the only place at the Adelaide Airport where you can receive a trip request.

Step 2: Accept a trip request

Once you receive a trip request, the Uber Driver app will navigate you to the designated Rideshare Pickup Area near the terminal. Driver-partners can also follow the signs to the Rideshare Pickup Area at Adelaide Airport.

To enter the Rideshare Pickup Area, you’ll need to swipe your Access Card and open the boom gate. The Rideshare Pickup Area is the only area at Adelaide Airport where driver-partners can pick up riders.

Step 3: Pick up your rider

Once you’ve located your rider at the Rideshare Pickup Area, simply begin the trip as normal.

Adelaide Airport has signage directing riders to the Rideshare Pickup Area. If you think your rider can’t find you, remember you can call or message them directly via the Uber Driver app.

Some riders have told us they appreciate it whenever you’re able to help load their luggage into the car. It’s part of the 5-star service that keeps riders coming back to Uber.

Adelaide Airport Access Card

Airport Fees and Charges Access Card fees

As a driver-partner using the Uber Driver app, you’ll need to pay a $25 non-refundable fee to the Airport for an Access Card. Access cards will be processed and ready for collection within 10 business days of all correct information being received by the airport.

A monthly admin fee of $1.50 will be debited to the card by the Airport on the first day of each calendar month.

Paying and reimbursing the airport fee

The Airport will debit a $3.00 airport fee on the card for each entry to the Rideshare Pickup Area.

For Uber trips, this amount will be charged to riders and paid to you through your regular payment cycle. This will be reflected in the ‘Surcharges & Tolls’ heading in your payment statement.

Maintaining an active Access Card

To complete pickups from the designated Rideshare Pickup Area, the Airport requires driver-partners to maintain a minimum card balance of $15 at all times.

Replacing lost Access Cards

If you lose your card, please call Adelaide Airport on 08 8308 9211. Replacement of lost or damaged cards will incur a non-refundable fee from the Airport. Access Cards that have not been used for a period of 90 days or more will be blocked. Unblocking a card incurs an administration fee, which will be debited from the card by the Airport.
